Car Rental in Florida for a 22 year old - paying in Cash

Hey Guys

First not sure if it should be here or motoring, seems more general to me but I guess mods will move it if they feel the need

Ok here goes:

Im going to Orlando in May, now we want to rent a convertable. Checked out the prices - all seemed good. Here is the catch -

  1. My girlfriend is 22 years old (she is the car driver - I only have a bike license)
  2. I have a credit card but it does not offer "partner" cards
  3. she is unemployed at the moment so i guess unlikely to get a credit card
  4. the driver has to have his/her name on the credit card (from what I have seen)
  5. we can pay a large cash deposit - up to 2000usd if required!
  6. debit cards accepted seem to be only those with the VISA sign - she has meastro

So, anyone know of a company out in Orlando that will accept a cash deposit and payment on a convertable from a 22 year old

Thanks in advance for any ideas/companies

From what I can tell you aren't going to get around the "driver must have a credit card clause" from any rental agency.

My only suggestion to you would be to e-mail several of the comapnies now and explain your predicament...

Edit:

A search for "cash only" in Orlando produced.....

hehe yeah noticed that.

Another 800usd for the insurance ... nice. Will UK companies put in sufficient insurance to cover the two they have?

this is a loadable mastercard...no credit check. just load with necessary funds before you leave. you can use it just like any mastercard credit card, but i think that when you hire the car, they authorise an amount on the card, prior to releasing the car, so it would be worth checking how much this is and ensure there are sufficient funds...if there are not it will be declined as this card is not a line of credit.

I'm not condoneing fraud but you really should get her to apply for a credit card, it will improve her credit rating and the companies often dont check up on employment status and are unlikely to care as long as you meet minimum payments. Barclaycard and capital one are options.

edit ,Just noticed germany as your location, best to try the local banks and companies.

Sadly car rental places refuse to take "pre-paid" credit cards.

Yeah, we are in the process of getting her a card anyway (German Barclay Card) but I doubt very much it would have sufficient credit limit for the car.

Still, no worries. One of the links above will happily take a full cash deposit

If one of the options fails....Take out a Nationwide current account which comes with a Visa Debit card.....Plus you have the bonus of not paying additional fees when taking cash out abroad....
