Hanging on the telephone...Arrghhh

Hey blondie....what about those call centre waiting times and the cost!!!..... I note a lot of members from time to time talk about phoning sky or ntl. In the spirit of being helpful.... call waiting times to to a call centre on 0870 or similar number generally costs between 3 and 8p per minute (of which the company receive a slice of the action - as an aside last year DVLA made £1.5m from their customers using their 0870 number). Hence a call to any call centre be it NTL, DVLA or Bristish Gas can, apart from being iritating, cost a couple of quid
Anyway - helpful bit - there is a web site called "saynoto0870" the link to the site and the search facility is attached

http://www.saynoto0870.com/

http://www.saynoto0870.com/search.php

The site allows you to rearch by company name or the 0870, 0845 etc number and get the normal telephone number (if one is available). Assuming, like a good number of people, you are on a package that allows free STD calls at times or you have an all in package .. hey presto the call costs nothing. The upshot is your still totally screwed up by hanging on the phone for ages, but at least you don't need to pay for the privilege.

Best Regards,
B of a T

I think this has been posted several times a year, but it is good to see it back. Should be a sticky IMO.

You can ring NTL customer services from an NTL phone for free by dialing 150. Then you get a free international call to Dehli, and can chat for hours while you try and explain what your problem actually is...
