With all the Audio equipment people on these forums own I'm sure some of you will have had the odd house-party using the stuff.

We're planning the final, the biggest, the best "end of uni" houseparty at our place for the 20th August. We've got the sound-system sorted, used that at the last party and it went down a treat but to make this one extra special we've been talking about buying or maybe hiring one of those green Laser light systems you sometimes find in clubs to project accross the open-plan kitchen/lounge area. Can you imagine how good that would look!?

Anyway I've been looking around on the internet and as yet havent found anywhere that covers the Brighton area (for hiring) or anything that strikes me as a bit of a bargain (for buying).

Has anyone ever done this before? Are there any companies/places to buy from that could be recommended? Or does anyone have one they'd be willing to loan me for an evening?

Been out on the bike today visiting a couple of "sound and light" hire shops around here but neither of them do lasers, just disco lights, which I cant help thinking would look a little bit naff.

Yesterday I spoke to a shop in Shoreham, not far down the road from here but they only hire lasers out to more long-term installations, not one night party jobs. They said they used to but because they are quite fragile the lasers kept coming back broken. I might ring them back tomorrow and beg and plead a little bit, maybe if I offer to put down a deposit and promise to look after it... fingers crossed.
