As per previous post my once splendid skoda octavia lost oil pressure on the way back from devon last week.Took it to a local garage[who i thought were to be trusted],to be told you need a new engine at £1750 +fitting.I phoned a mate who has a garage in stratford up-on avon.He said it was impossible to diagnose this without stripping the whole engine down.So i paid to have the car towed over to him.New engine indeed.One oil pump sprocket and chain.Job done.Moral here is if in doubt get a second opinion.I am now thinking of phoning someone to report this cowboy garage.

Maybe the technician (or grease monkey may be a better name in this case) genuinly thought you needed a new engine? So he believes he told you the truth...
