Right I sold something on eBay and in my description I stated " buyer must contact me within 24hrs of winning the auction stating there method of payment, payment must be made within 4 days of auction ending"

So... Someone chose to "buy it now" yesterday and hasn't contacted me within the 24hrs (which was 6pm) and I'm wondering if there wasting my time as I haven't heard from them

I no I should give some leeway but it clearly stated to make contact with the buyer to let me no method of payment and I don't want to be messed about as the price was over £300

Am I right to be annoyed ?

Personally, I'd say you're being a bit harsh, especially over the weekend.
But no worries, as you've stated it clearly you can pull out if you like.
I'd give it another 24 hours myself.

If their feedback is ok, I wouldn't be too worried.

Do you accept payments via PayPal? If I buy a product via 'buy it now' I pay immediately if PayPal is accepted.

I think you should just contact them via whatever method is available, rather than get annoyed. If they then choose not to respond you can be somewhat annoyed.

I know it's no use now, but you have the facility to require imidiate payment if a buyer uses BIN, so before they get the goods they have to pay. Worth while for next time.

I didn't see that option when making my ad :0/

I think you're being overly harsh in asking the buying to make contact within 24 hours especially over a weekend, but asking for payment within 4 days seems pretty reasonable. I wouldn't start worrying about things yet as the first contact you've requested is needless, but if you've still not got payment in the next couple of days send them a message.
I usually do my BiN sales as immediate payment and I only accept Paypal. That saves all this impatience.

When did the listing end and why did you request them to contact you separately from the payment?

The buyer chose BIN on the 25th Feb at 6:29pm

I didn't want somebody to win my auction then not hear from them that's why I requested the "contact me within 24hrs" part so I new when they would make payment- but it seems they have no regard for the terms I set out in my advert

You should have used the require immediate payment when buyer uses buy it now.

It's your fault for not reading the auction options when listing. I'd guess if they haven't paid by now they aren't going to unless they are waiting to get paid at the end of the month.

Have you tried to establish contact or are you just leaving the ball in their court?

I think 4 days is long enough for someone to send payment, especially on a buy it now. I'd get the ball rolling on the non-payment process now.

Have you sent a message to the buyer? Some buyers or some reason wait to receive an Ebay invoice.
Or he may just have forgotten.

How much feedback did the buyer have?
Short of terrible tragedy to himself or a loved one, I can't think of any excusable reason for his apparent lack of action.
Definitely report them.
Do you get your fee refunded, or a free re-list for non-payment?

Has a feedback score of 102 100%

I've sent 2 Pms regarding payment method and a invoice was sent Saturday

Il be looking into reporting them and negative feedback will be left

If I'd selected instant payment with buy it now how does it make sure they pay right away?

They get all sorts of automatically generated 'pay now' flags/messages/screens from ebay/paypal.
But even then, it doesn't guarantee it, nothing does.
If they walk away from their PC and forget, you're screwed.

You can't leave negative feedback.

Basically they have to pay for it as part of the buying process. It's not added to their account unless paid and I believe it's not marked as sold unless they pay.

Technically someone else would be able to buy it if they take too long to press pay (but I guess they have a few minutes to go through the payment process before it times out?).

Sellers can only leave positive feedback to buyers. Buyers can leave positive, neutral or negative to sellers.

So how are you supposed to warn other sellers that this person is a non payer and has totally wasted my time?

A non payment can be registered against them and when listing items, you can block certain people from bidding on your item, eg, non payers, those with feedback rating less than 5, ginger haired folk etc etc...

You've not used ebay much have you?

You only have yourself to blame for not asking for immediate payment and not realising it is even an option.

I've bought mostly and have 100% feedback on over 200 transactions

I only have myself to blame for the buyer not paying? Yeh that makes sense

You've either missed my point, or ignored it.

Had you selected immediate payment, you wouldn't be in this predicament.
By allowing people to choose their method of payment you are forfeiting any right to demand how fast a payment is made, because if a person chooses a cheque, you have to wait for it to arrive, and then for your bank to process it.

I realise that this person hasn't attempted to send any payment, but the point remains, had you choosen 'require immediate payment' you wouldn't be moaning like you are now. The point that you only have yourself to blame also holds true as you can only blame yourself for not reading the auction options before listing the item. Unless someone else listed it on your behalf, in which case you can blame them.
