They even do a Seadweller inspired model:
OCEAN 44 automatic - Diver Watch - Steinhart Watches

That would look great with the creamic bezel but doesn't appear to be an option!
I think I prefer the non-cyclops models though!

Nice watches, I even considered an 'homage' watch myself at one point.
A Christopher Ward that is heavily insipred by an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean.
But I decided I wouldn't get the same joy from wearing an 'homage' watch.
Just my opinion though, I can understand why they're popular.

I know where you're coming from. Obviously I would love a real Rolex seadweller or submariner but I don't have that kind of money. I think a Steinhart or similar would be a much better option than a fake!

Oh god yeah, an homage watch is better than a replica/fake.
You're not infringing any copyrights etc.

My wife got me a Steinhart Ocean One Vintage Red for my birthday a few years back, been very happy with it indeed, and couldn't have expected her to pay Rolex money !

They're just blatant copies without the Rolex name I am surprised the Ocean 44 doesn't say Original Gas Escape Valve around the rehault.

Which is why I bought a (fairly) pricey Casio! Of all things! I dont really like the look of that particular Seiko, but some Seikos I think look really nice and classy. Horses for courses...

Just collected my new watch, a GShock GW-4000-1A3ER. Had to import it from Germany as it's not available in the UK yet, but it was well worth it. Amazing watch for the money, plus a bit different looking.

My PO is off for some TLC so I needed something to entertain me

Depends on your wrist size, for me yes as my max is about 48mm but if you have large wrists then it could look good

Steinharts are very well made and solid - very pleased with my Nav B and the DLC coating has held up well to resisting scratches.

I'm a bit 'hmmm...' about servicing quartz watches.
I've heard anecdotal stories of them not doing much more than gentle puffs of air to blow any dust out.
I've yet to bother with an 'official' service, I just ask for a puff of air and a new o-ring when I get the battery changed.
Which should be par for the course in a battery change anyway, really.

Agreed with above, I don't think there is much to service for a quartz movement. But the seals could do with a change to ensure its waterproof.

I agree with the guys above, service it when you need to with a quartz. You'll know when you need to as not even a fresh battery will make it work as it should. Never skimp on battery changing though, as the re-seal and pressure testing is very important.

Servicing on a quartz is often an entirely new movement module anyway, rather than a nuts-and-bolts service as you'd expect on an auto. That's why some quartz watches 'service' is so limited in scope, as the parts aren't available.

I wear the following:

Citizen Chrono-Time AT Chronograph Eco-Drive BY0010-52E
Titanium Bracelet and Body.
Sapphire Glass.
Solar Powered.
200m Water Depth.
Radio Controlled Atomic.

The build quality is astounding and its by far the best watch I have ever owned.

My latest addition.

Absolutely love it.

Nice weight to it and the crystal has a really nice purple hue to it due to the anti reflective coating.

Anyone got some input on lum-tec? I know they have cropped up on here a few times. I'm looking at a second hand lumzilla LZ3 for £275 as a daily wearer instead of my speedmaster. Does that seem a fair price? Also I have read they wear smaller than the 50mm dial suggests!

Cheers Nik

Are you attracted to that watch, or the fact they've got bright lume?
If it's the latter, there are other Tritium watches available for less money.
Luminox, for example, are a good bit cheaper.
I keep meaning to buy a Luminox as my night watch.
Yes. I have a watch specifically for night use.
I'm very short-sighted, wearing a bright lume watch is the easiest/quickest way for me to tell time in bed.

I really like the watch first and foremost, the fact that it has a great lume is a bonus really.

I have had a look at those luminox watches and as you say very good value

I'd never spend that on a Casio, but if you like it you go for it.
I dare say it would always sell too, but not sure it would keep much of its value.
If you never intend selling it, not an issue.

Don't wear a watch, I guess I don't need to know what time it is?

But they don't have the Rolex Price tag either

I think they're very nice looking watches and (IMO) I'd bet the quality is better than the difference in pricetag would suggest.

It does raise some interesting debates though.
I'm sure we'd all frown upon fake watches.
But these 'homage' watches lean so heavily on the styling of 'big brand' names that they tread on thin ice.
If the likes of Steinhart and Christopher Ward are so confident in their products, why borrow heavily from the styling of Rolex/Omega?
It's a 'middle ground' between fakes and the real thing that I'm not sure I'm comfy with.
I did flirt with a CW Omega 'homage' at one point, but gave myself a slap and realised I should just hang on until I can get the Omega.
