Now I have to disagree here - even tho I'm predominantly a rock and metal fan, I have to give Girls Aloud their credit. They are excellent at what they do, despite whether you like their music or not! They can all sing, and most of them can sing very well (the little redhead has a nice voice, but she lacks power and projection, whereas the Scouse one is very very good indeed, classically trained and easily of West End musical quality) Their songs are incredibly catchy, well constructed and well executed (tho the writing of these songs might not be attributed to their talents lol). There is a reason s they are the most successful girl band of all time, surpassing the strange phenomenom that was the Spice Girls lol)
But what I really like about Girls Aloud is what I detest about the majority of these groups - they do actually compliment each other and "gel" with each other vocally. The majority of these groups, despite vocal talent or not, constantly "ham it up" when it comes to their vocal lines, and they all seem to fight each other and sing over the top of each other. JLS is a perfect example of this, as were the Backstreet Boys, Take That, and most of all, Westlife. It's like each one is DYING to be noticed, and tries to raise themselves against the other members, who are each doing the same. Westlife were one of the worst for this, and the "over acting" in their singing was cringeworthy.
Male groups, IMO, that were any good, were Boyzone and Boyz II Men. Boyzone just had that good mix, similar to Girls Aloud, although there was really only one decent singer in the group, at least they didn't oversing each other as much as the rest. Boyz II Men were a group of four INCREDIBLY talented singers, whoc belted out some superb talent in their songs. Really can't fault them, as said, whether you like them or not.
The above is maybe somewhat over-analytical, but I'm a music fan through an through, regardless of genre or style. And I appreciate talent regardless of my personal taste...
