Can anyone recommend a good CD->mp3 ripper?...

...something very simple that works well with Windows 7.

Preferably:-
Something that just rips to mp3 and plays mp3's.
Uses a good look-up service for tagging.
Allows a modicum of control over file and ID tagging.
Edit: ...and can create playlists, preferably in '.3mu' format.

An not:-
Connects to the internet to try an sell or recommend stuff I don't want.
Has loads of plug-ins to sync with iPods, phones, etc.
Includes some sort of library manager that faffs with my files.

I used to use MusicMatch years ago - this was absolutely fine. I've been using MediaMonkey for a bit now - but I just don't like it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Windows media player - go to options and change the rip settings to MP3.

WMP does all of those without a problem (for me anyway)

and you can choose the quality of the rips if you wish

Winamp?

I've never used it's burning engine, but have no reason to think it would be bad.

Ticks all your boxes too, I think.

I just use iTunes and disable all the "features" I don't want. It works great for me!

Re: Can anyone recommend a good CD->mp3 ripper?...

Thanks Guys,

Haven't tried WMP for ages - seems quite good and WMP12 does exactly what I want.

Look-up facility seems very good - I tried a few *very* obscure newspaper freebie CDs and the lookup didn't fail.

WMP doesn't produce '.3mu' playlist files. It produces '.wpl' easily edited though.

Sorted.
