The Truth .

Should the UK adopt The Euro?

A cross-section survey of 1000 people in the UK, made up of Afghans, Albanians, Pakistanis, Indians, Poles, Iraqis, Somalis, Bosnians, Turks, Moldavians, Latvians, Lithuanians, Bangladeshis, Ethiopians, Russians, Congolese, Zimbabweans, Portuguese and Nigerians were asked if they thought Britain should change its currency to Euro.

99.9% said no, they were happy with the Giro.

As a joke it's moderatly amusing. As the 'truth' it's grossly erroneous.

Re: The Truth .

British humour used to be the ability to laugh at yourself and others. To take the p out of yourself and your friends.

Unfortunately political correctness has reduced British humour to the level of mundane blankness. Lowest common denominator rules OK.

I am disappointed by the because you don't find this joke funny you must be part of the PC brigade brigade not accusing naysayers of having a sense of humour bypass or of being "brain-donors"

jokes are like opinions, which are like arseholes, and that joke certainly is one, but that's just my elbow, though everyone has one

Its called a Reciprocal Agreement old chum which is such an arrangement which one party will perform a certain act if the other performs a specified act as well.

A sound basis for living ones live if you ask me.

Re: The Truth .

I find all these comments interesting. This joke used to be pointed at scousers, although in this day and age such terms are ruled out. No one seemed to mind or give thought to their feelings, it was seen as humour. Swap Liverpudlians for immigrants and suddenly its bad taste and a subject of debate

Oh wonderful country we live in

If a tramp walks past you and you comment he smells then that seems fair, if that person is black or of similar skin tone then the comment is assumed racist. Sometimes it just feels like the whole country needs to grow up and the politicians need to grow some back bone!

Personally, I can see the humour in the OP's post.

Not at all, my comment actually states I see the humour in the joke the OP posted. That has no racist connotations what so ever, and that kind of reaction is exactly the problem with this country. All to often that word is thrown into situations it is neither required or applicable to. IMO, there is no more racist content in the joke than there would be in a scot calling me a hun, or an Indian calling me a limey.

Lets just try be sensible, thats all I'm saying.

If you called me a Towel head or Muja, you'd get the same.

BTW your post had nothing whatsoever to do do with the OP[/QUOTE]

So boring to hear a white man pretending to be offended by th term limey.

I was called a taff most of my life.

So what?

99.9% of englishmen would be proud to called a limey.

Just as Weslshmen would be proud ofbeing called a taff.

Im not offended by it, nor do I pretend to be. My point is people use these terms all day and all is fine, but if someone makes a joke about Giro claimants, and the claimants taking the but of that joke are foreign, then all of a sudden its racist.

I hate racism and dont tolerate it, I have many ethnic friends, my point is the term racism is thrown around all to easily, and I believe part of the reason for that is becuase of the political state of our system. Part of that is the exact attitude you exzibit, suppose I was offended to be called a limey, I would be greeted by that exact kind of attitude but the reverse isnt true. This is my issue with the system we live in.

The OP's joke is in no way of a racial agenda in my eyes, and I find comments that bring the race issue into the debate to be evidence of the misconception of race issues and racism in this country.

Personally, I feel that debating it so heavily at every opportunity is part of the issue. There are times and places, and a simple joke isnt one of them IMO. Its a shame we cant have a joke these days without people claiming to be wholly offended and racially abused. When paople take the **** out of me, I simply laugh along, especially if its actually funny.

As per my first post, it would be accurate and simply just not funny if the largest giro user group was included in that 'joke'. That would be correct then and much less hassle. Picking on a minority well then you always open yourself up to not being funny...

My moto if you want to ensure you don't offend anyone else make fun of one self....Then again your mum and dad may not like it Jokes at someone else expense are one thing, but when you do start involving race or religion or sexuality you know you are going to get some pushback......
