I would like to start this thread for all our brave soldiers both male & female who have lost their lives over the past century fighting wars that have provided us with our sometimes overlooked freedoms.
If you would like to contribute to this thread then please do so.
God bless and thanks.

Bill, you're looking a little lonely on this thread, so I'll join you in your tribute. If anyone has ever been to the cemetaries in France for victims of both first and second world wars, they will know how absolutely selfless and courageous these people were, and how lucky we are to have inherited a Europe at peace (ish) for the past 65 years.

I've been to the Vimy Ridge Memorial in Northern France as both my Grandfathers fought there in WW1, it is a very moving experience.

By Wilfred OwenWhat passing-bells for these who die as cattle?
--Only the monstrous anger of the guns.
Only the stuttering rifles' rapid rattle
Can patter out their hasty orisons.
No mockeries for them from prayers or bells,
Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs,-
The shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells;
And bugles calling for them from sad shires.
What candles may be held to speed them all?
Not in the hands of boys, but in their eyes
Shall shine the holy glimmers of goodbyes.
The pallor of girls' brows shall be their pall;
Their flowers the tenderness of silent minds,
And each slow dusk a drawing-down of blinds.
Thanks to all the fallen, we REMEMBER you!
