Guy Fawkes .. Gone but not Forgotten.

"Remember, Remember the 5th of November, the gunpowder treason and plot, I seen no reason that the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot"

Pity it didn't work, we wouldn't have the incompetent, self serving, whining, ungrateful, pompous, preachy oxygen stealing wastes of skin, blood and organs we have today.

But thanks for the effort Guido, you will always be the only man in my mind who entered the House of Commons with a good idea and honest intentions. Pity your plan feel foul of the curse of that house of vipers, namely that any plan conceived, planned and/or carried out within those walls is doomed to failure.

So here's to you Mr Fawkes !! ..

With him being from York but "working" in London - do you think he was claiming a 2nd home allowance though?

Re: Guy Fawkes .. Gone but not Forgotten.

I've often said that Mr. Fawkes was one of the few people to enter parliament with a clear idea of what to do.

Re: Guy Fawkes .. Gone but not Forgotten.

Would be nice if we had an enterprising young fellow with a decent plan these days too!

Re: Guy Fawkes .. Gone but not Forgotten.

Our 6YO daughter had to learn stuff about Guy Fawkes as homework.
The School gave us a list of twenty, I kid you not, twenty websites to refer to.
How bored must that person have been that they had the time to list twenty websites, when they all gave the same bloody info and one or two would have done?

Re: Guy Fawkes .. Gone but not Forgotten.

If the IRA had blew up the houses of Parliament, would they be lauded as having the right idea just like Mr Fawkes???

No...it would have to be done by an Englishman to be worthy of praise.

Re: Guy Fawkes .. Gone but not Forgotten.

Judging by the complete lack of fireworks in north London tonight I would say that bonfire night will suffer the same fate as Mr Guido Fawkes!

Re: Guy Fawkes .. Gone but not Forgotten.

We went to my sons local Beavers\Cubs\Scout event, in the field behind their hut. A few hundred people there, nice little barbecue going and a neat little display. The bonfire even had a Guy on ! Plus it was ACTUALLY on the 5th

You can always count on the Scouts for a bit of tradition, apart from the girl thing, but lets not go there
