Fireworks possession laws tightened?

Tonight, I have only heard one or two fireworks in my local area, but last year and the last few years, fireworks have been going off for the whole week centreing on Bonfire Night, as if laws were lax about kids buying them and letting them off.

Have the laws been tightened severely? Or has Bonfire Night been cancelled and that I won't hear lots of fireworks tomorrow night?

Aye, they've either not imported many or the laws changed. Never heard as much as a sparkler never mind a banger.

Cosidering the little buggers normally start setting 'em off in August up here.

Rockets only last a few minutes , Labrini lasts 30 minutes

Tightended? Tesco are doing buy one get one free on all fireworks! Maybe people realise its not worth the cost when you can pay a £5 for a organised event and see a much better display?

firework laws were tightened in 2003 IIRC , i think it is more a case of the credit crunch this year , heard very few round here , pleased about it as well

Re: Fireworks possession laws tightened?

I was wondering this last nite.

I'm a night driver and drive from dudley to Wolverhampton and back all night.

I used to see LOTS of fireworks, but lately I've hardley seen any.

Re: Fireworks possession laws tightened?

There's hardly been any so far round here, whereas normally they're being let off for a couple of weeks before and after bonfire night.

Re: Fireworks possession laws tightened?

The only time I've heard fireworks round my way recently was a couple of weekends back when I think it was Diwali day?

Very quiet for the time of year, must be the recession.

Re: Fireworks possession laws tightened?

Been pleasantly firework-free around us lately too.
Not totally quiet, but much less than previous years.
Maybe they've all blown their hands off, one can only hope.

Re: Fireworks possession laws tightened?

Only heard a few so far and none last night which is strange for mischievous night, drugged the dog up in preparation for the noise as well.

Exactly the same here, it's quite strange, the only fireworks i've heard in the last week have been some on Monday night at about 00:30 and some on Saturday which was almost expected as people have parties on Halloween.
Wonder how bad tonight will be, I imagine the weekend will be the prime time for them.

I'm beginning to wonder if they've stopped doing mischievous night around here now. I've not noticed any gangs of kids going round on the 4th for a few years. Mind you my mate got a stone through his window on Halloween night so maybe they've swapped it to then?

Any night is 'chievy night for the scrotes around here, they'll jump at any excuse to cause trouble, thankfully their fascination with fireworks keeps them fairly quiet around this time

Hardly as bad as what your mate suffered, but we had some 9 or 10 year old boys ringing the doorbell repeatedly at 5 to bloody 10 at night on Halloween.
Woke the kids, scared the missus.
They didn't leg it, they were standing there waiting for someone to come to the door.
At 5 to bloody 10!
It was on my mind to tell them to take me to their parents, but I settled for a short verbal intead.
