Thanks: Gave 494, Got 556 | I've become a statistic.
On Friday afternoon I got a call from my boss telling me that the company I work for has gone into administration. The company had quite a bit of stock which we were hoping to be able to sell off, but today I got another call to say over the weekend the premises were broken into and all stock has been cleaned out. So today I guess that makes me unemployed.
As well as my job, I used to have interests in 2 other companies, but eventually had to relinquish those due to a perceived clash of interests, so for the first time in I don't know how long I've nothing to do. It feels very weird sitting here not being able to do any work.
The industry I work in has taken a huge hammering in the recession, so finding another job may not be easy. I have 1 possible job that I'm waiting to hear back on, but if that doesn't come off.....I'm screwed.

I'm not too dejected yet as I'm hopeful this other job will come off and I should hear in the next day or two.
If it doesn't, then it's time to start worrying.

Just had a call from the administrator to say I won't be getting paid this month, and that forms are in the post.
Has anyone any experience of these forms? Am I likely to get back everything I'm owed?

As for the above, my cynical self finds this suspisciously coincidental...

| Sorry to hear this Dony but this doesn't sound right to me. Company goes in to administration and then gets "cleaned out" the day after ! You haven't been paid but someone will be earning off the assets !

Me too - been there, done that, played that game. I've had to change career so many times. Now I'm self employed - mostly because at 57, I'm too old to get a "proper job". There is aways a way of earning a crust though.

The premises are in a different country to me, so I've no idea if it was people who were owed money came back, or something else.

Its simply the way it is. Once news breaks of a company going under everything and anything not bolted down gets carried out. What kind of stock are we talking if you don't mind me asking......or was it high value ?

Without being too specific, it was spare parts for heavy machinery....about £300k's worth.

Sorry to hear the news mate. Sickening you won't get your last pay check either. Will you get any redundancy out of the government?
I lost my job in May this year and so I know how you feel. Hope the new job offer comes through for you.

Took me about 6 months to get a small proportion of wages I was owed when I was made redundant 10 years ago. Sorry to hear about your situation, hope you sort something out soon.
