Rockhopper [RKH]

Thank me next year

Re: Oil in the Falklands

They're taking their time with this. The rights to search and drill where being handed out in '96 when I was down there.

Not saying anything about your tip OP, but the depths involved down there are much greater than 'traditional' drilling. There may be some unforseen problems.

Re: Oil in the Falklands

The two I've mentioned are North of the Island, much shallower. Drilling is confirmed as next year. Much red tape between 98 and 2010 ;-)

Surely they'll first fly some planes into a building, piloted by some sheep.

Re: Oil in the Falklands

You don't need guns, you can hunt penguins with a 3 wood.

Re: Oil in the Falklands

Forget the penguins and think about billions and billions of barrels of oil.

Time to re-locate? It will be a golden era for Argentinian gardeners, looking after lawns and gardens for oil millionaires.
Not trying to see you off or anything, but..........

Re: Oil in the Falklands

Poor bloody Falklands.
All that beautiful windswept barren scenery is going to be destroyed in favour of cattle grazing land for Argy corned beef production!

Re: Oil in the Falklands

They have just replaced the 16 year old Tornado's down there with Typhoon's, wonder if they'll ever see combat down there?

Seriously, we'll no doubt get the rigs drilling, set up the piplines to shore, build the terminal and all the infrastructure, then hand everything back to Argentina and pay for the administration costs !!
