Parking Idiot

This dozy cow parked halfway up the pavement, in a bus stop, so she could nip to the cash machine!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8275944.stm

Car gets hit by a bus. The council say sorry and revoke the parking ticket.

She shouldn't have been parked there in the first place. Ignorant/lazy parking really does my head in. I can't believe that she has the neck to be interviewed making herself out to be a victim.

Hi,

Great find! And, yes, you are right, she should not have parked there in the first place! I have little sympathy for the fact it was a Porsche that was knackered, but I do feel sorry for the driver of the other car, that got hit by the Porsche being pushed (by the bus) into them!

It's very odd that the Council revoked her parking ticket, though! Especially as she was clearly in the wrong.

Still, can't wait to hear what the Bus Driver had to say about this.

Re: Parking Idiot

I really hate people who park on pavements and this woman deserved something but am not sure this wasn't overdoing it a jot... maybe the bus driver was as fed up this kind of thing as I am. Very glad there wasn't anyone at that bus stop!

I think she definitely should have been fined for parking on the pavement though, there was no reason for her to be there whatsoever... but then that's usually the case when you find someone parking on the pavement, just drivers being selfish .

Re: Parking Idiot

Parking on double yellow lines, and in hatched areas AND in turning areas in little cul-de-sacs void your insurance.

If you are parked on double yellows, and then you car gets hit, its YOUR fault and insurance won't pay up.

Same should apply here.

I hate people who park where they shouldn't. And people who can't use road islands properly (90% of car drivers)

Something don't ring true in this post, perhaps you should reword it.

what if there was someone stood at the bus stop waiting, they would have got a free ride up to the next bus stop

Driver of bus should be charged with careless driving.
Driver of porsche should still have to pay the ticket!

Is that a VW Tourag that got banjo'd? Just imagine the drivers comments sitting there and then - oh crap.

Could've killed anyone.

Bus driver must've been sacked, surely? Can't see why they wouldn't say.

Re: Parking Idiot

Zero sympathy for the daft, inconsiderate bint who blocked the bus stop - she shouldn't have had the ticket quoshed and I hope that the court throws out any claim for compensation she might make. Also, hopefully her insurance company will tell her to go take a hike as hinted at by another poster.

Not too sure what the story was with the bus driver though - by the looks of things he was out of control and would have crashed anyway. Maybe he hit the accelerator by accident or something ... but the car being parked illegally blocking the bus stop definitely made the accident worse.

Though she was originally illegally parked if the ticket was issued after the accident then it is void, the car has to illegally parked at the time printed on the ticket the warden issued.

comprehensive covers you for "own fault incidents" though there are exceptions like car stolen while keys left in the ignition unattended.

Yes it was a ridiculous place to park, however the bus driver was parked over the road for ages . He must of seen the porsche there and even in it was not, the driver would of mullered the bus stop anyway. Little sympathy for her though really.

lets face it, she was in the wrong, bus driver got ****** off and drove into her car.

if a moving vehicle hits a stationary vehicle it is ALWAYS the moving vehicles fault.

*Looks into his crystal ball*

driver changes accident plea to mental illness or diminished responsibility.
woman sucessfully sues council and gets settlement to buy a much better porsche

Must say I'm going to go against the grain here. Whilst she cleary shouldn't have been parked there, she certainly doesn't deserve to have her car smashed to pieces by the plonker driving the bus.

Re: Parking Idiot

The law is there to protect the emergency services in case of emergency.

I learned this 1st hand when my car was hit by a fire engine, but I was parked on double yellows, with my disabled badge in the window as my son is in a wheelchair.

Luckyly the damage wasn't bad and no one was in the car.

Insurance did finaly pay, becasue of the blue badge.

Dont shoot the messanger, just try it yourself and see if you can claim

Thanx for all the little insults guys, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

No worries

Insurance probably paid out because there wasn't a realistic way they could get out of it. I'm not saying you're lying about you're situation, but I just can't see them not paying out due to being parked on yellow lines. If it was that common a problem (as I'm sure thousands of cars have been hit whilst on double yellows) then I'm sure it would be fairly common knowledge.

Indeed - why is parking on double-yellows any different from speeding, or entering a yellow-box without a clear exit? If they can pick and choose which rules of the road you have to follow to have valid insurance, surely they would just say 'we don't pay out if you were speeding' and have a lot less payouts.

Especially as it's perfectly legal to park on double-yellows to e.g. load/unload or pick up a passenger (barring restrictions).

Re: Parking Idiot

I like the way the woman has parked virtually inside the bus stop on a busy road and the BBC reporter saying "We've all done that" (NO) and then ending the report by saying "You'll all be pleased to hear she got off without paying a parking fine", There was a time when the BBC would have been censorious about people like that: now we're supposed to cheer them on ?

Re: Parking Idiot

Why is it that people with certain cars think they can drive and park anyway they like.

And that bus driver is nuts, maybe he just had enough of people parking in or near bus stops.

I don't think that was an accident, no one drives that bad, unless he was a women driver
