Thanks: Gave 1,464, Got 2,444 | I was walking past the local Vodafone shop when.....
I saw a poster in the shop window which included a photo of three young girls playing on Brighton Beach. They are my grand daughters.
I picked up a copy of the September Vodafone magazine which includes the same photos next to the ad for the new Blackberry Curve.
If anyone works for Vodafone I wouldn't mind a copy of that poster. I've left a message on someone's answering machine in the marketing department but I don't know if they will bother getting back to me

Why don't you go in and ask if you can have it when they are done with it? after all advertisements don't last forever Most stores will be happy to just give you them.

I assume the parents were asked permission, maybe they have a contact or access to a copy?

I once appeared in a travel brochure, sitting around a table and having a meal with some friends. The ad was for somewhere in Portugal, the pic was actually taken in Majorca.

What have you asked them to do i understand the permission part and the shock of seeing your grandchildren on a poster is there anything they have to do with regards to a legal concept.
How did that make you feel do you want a copy of the poster becase its a nice picture of your grandchildren playing or are fuming they used the picture

Dont think Ian cares if there was permission or not, I think he just wants it because his grandchildren are on it and to keep it because its cool. Might be wrong though, its been known to happen

They were on Brighton beach a few months ago with my son in law when they were approached by a photographerr who asked if it would be OK to photograph them for possible inclusion in the magazine.
He said that they didn't really have the time as they were late but when the photographer said that it would be £300 if they used the pictures he suddenly found the time
I asked in the shop and they referred me to the marketing department but if I have no luck there I will go back to the shop and ask them if I can have the window poster when they's done with it.

That must have been quiet surreal for a second.
Nice story, hope you get the poster version.

Hi Ian,
Two things:
1) If you take in a pic of your grandkids into the store, and prove that they are relatives of yours, you are more likely to get the poster. (Some stores just deliberately destroy their marketing material, to save customers arguing over who had first dibs on it.)
2) If you see the same ad at/on a bus-shelter or train station poster booth, make a note of the name of the company who's poster booth it is (e.g. Adshel, etc), and note down the number on the booth too (which will probably be 4-6 digits in length).
Then find out from the place where the poster booth is situated, for the name and phone number of the company who does their advertising (it will almost certainly be local), and then phone the company up. These companies often keep large numbers of the posters, and you may be able to get one via them.
I've done this a couple of times, and succeeded!
Best of luck, and I'll also see if my local Vodafone store has the poster on display. If they do, I'll try to see if I can blag it from them, for you.
Pooch

I managed to blag one of those from the PR company and it's now framed and hanging on the wall of my office.
For anyone that used to go to West End shows 20 years ago it was Slice of Saturday Night Quote:
