So how many of you have had your heating on yet. Quite a few people I know already have.
I was tempted this morning but £$£$£$ kept going round my mind

Blimey mate. I won't put the heating on until the temp is in single digits. Even then i'll only do it if I have socks + jumper on, and even then I do it grudgingly.
It just feels like such a waste of money.

If I remember from last year I think it first went on in our house mid September.

i know what you mean about it getting colder but may i suggest putting a jumper on instead of the heating.in fact there are 3 reasons not to put the heating.
1 save the planet
2 save money
3 do not give ****ing spiders an excuse to come in and get a warm.

Hi,
The temperature around my local area, has still been in the low 20's (centigrade) during the day, and certainly no lower than about 12-15 degrees at night, so I certainly won't be putting the heating on anytime soon.
Is it really so cold in your neck of the woods, that you need heating on, already?!

Stick a jumper on silly, some socks if need be! I say the same to people at work who already have the heating on, and then they complain when they get their bill!

We're told it's in the low 20s but it feels much colder. I think they select the highest temperature it is speculated to reach (for about 5 minutes) and then forecast the whole day's temperature on that basis.

sometimes there is a difference between the actual temparature and percieved temperature, sometimes a cool breeze can make it feel colder than it actually is

Hi Bosque,
What you say may be correct, and weather predictions are simply that - predictions - but it's still not cold enough for me to warrant putting on my heating yet.

The trouble is when you have young kids who tend to kick the blanket away in the sleep, you worry they'll get cold (and they do and wake up crying).
We haven't had the heating on yet though.

It's 21.6c in my room but I feel a bit cold so put on a fleece for the first time in months and months. Might be the wind, when I went out in the garden the wind made me feel really chilly even though the sunshine (between the clouds!) was warm.
I was going to make a comment about having no central heating when I was a kid but would rather not be 'that' person! "Ecky thump, kids t'day don't know they've been born!".

Heating! Blimey, I'm still wandering around in just a pair of shorts.
Then again, I dont like to be warm anyway so in mid minter I only have my heating set at 17 centigrade.

Usually I will put on the heating around mid October, but never put the heating on for more than 2-3 hours a day even at winter's worst.
Our bedroom doesn't have a radiator anyway as it is a converted attic. Just get an extra thick duvet and you are fine after 15 minutes anyway. I used to live at a farm where there was no central heating at all!

I've had the heating on a few times but my heating works so well it's literally a case of having the heating on for about 10 mins then switching it off before I start melting, I generally put it on anytime I feel a chill in the air, my knees start to get sore on the inside and my fingers are tight when I'm just about to jump on the xbox/pc.
Ahh the joys of being in my mid-20's...
