Mobile Phone stolen last night

Was coming home from work last night and parked the car on the drive , popped in the house to switch the alarm off before it woke my girlfriend and son up, left the key's in the car " so i can only assume whoever stole my phone could not drive otherwise they would have been long gone "

Anyway left loads of messages on the phone , along the lines of bring the mobile back or your dead , mug had the cheek to phone me back and say this isn't your phone, after a heated discussion the phone went dead, so i immediately called up Vodaphone to put a block on it.

So here's the twist in the tale a lady called around about 1 hour bringing my phone back , say's her son found it .... yeah right then she said don't call the police

So here i am sitting with a blocked phone that seem's no more use than a chocolate teapot, if i call up Vodaphone can they Unblock it ?

Don't think he's reached the Age of puberty yet sounded annoyingly squeeky on the phone , unless he was trying to mask his voice, i see the lady all time i'll pop outside if she's with her son and rearrange his balls try and do something about that voice .

Vodafone say they won't unblock unless i write to them

That's a joke about vodafone.

All that inconvinience because of some little ****

I know many'll disagree but he'd need a little slap round the head, it would do him some good.

That's not half of it i think i scared him abit , lol went a bit crazy on the phone

Plus all my mates were bombarding him with death threats through sms

The cheek of his mother though , "You got the phone back now let that be the end of it ". I in no way condone violence towards women , but that comment made me want to freak out at her

Yeah that comment would pee me off too, ah so if he took your car for a little ride and brought it back it would be alright then.

Thing is though the police would do nothing, so that isn't an option really, the only time I'd ever get the police involved in something is if I needed a crime reference number for an insurance claim.

I think if someone steals something the owner should be allowed to give them a slap.

I'd find out where she lives and slash all their car tyres. That is disgusting, obviously an unfit mother.

Just steal their simcard, then you're still above their level

To be fair to the mum though, at least she brought the phone back, I don't think she's that bad.

Round my way the mum would sell the phone the son stole and buy some crack to smoke

Maybe he said he found it on their drive, or she cld just be lying, he maybe admitted to her that he stole it but the mum just lied because she didn't want her son to get into trouble.

Exclamation Re: Mobile Phone stolen last night

Hi Head-Shots,

Sorry to hear of this. Personally, as others have said, it might be nice (in theory) to get your revenge back on the woman and her kid, but it won't do much, and it's likely the police will come knocking at your door.

But, I'm glad to hear, you got the phone back.

However... and this is a very long shot here, but the fact that the kid wiped your phone could potentially be classified as "malicious damage", and the fact that it was personal computer data, means the kid (and maybe the mum too) are breaking the Data Protection Act and/or Computer Misuse Acts.

Technically-speaking, the police could be contacted, and the kid/mum be viewed as a "hacker". My recommendation, would be to find the mum and son's address, and then contact the police telling them what they did. The fact that the mother asked for the police NOT to be called, suggests she is withholding information about a crime, and hence that maybe something the police WOULD want to get involved in.

Re: Mobile Phone stolen last night

I didn't get if you were on a contract, or PAYG ... but my 12 year old had his phone (PAYG) stolen a few weeks ago, while at his gaelic football training. His mum immediately phoned O2 to get it blocked and I sent the phone a message saying it belonged to my son and if "found" should be given back to him or send me a text to arrange collection. Anyhow, the next day on the coach on the way to a game, a lad gave the phone back to my son and explained that he must have "gathered the phone up" when he threw all his kit in his bag after training. . Anyhow, we couldn't get the thing to get past the simlock and phoned O2 to unblock it, and they said it would take up to 72 hours. That time elapsed and nothing, so I phoned O2 again and she told me to take the simcard out, go into settings ... security ... and disable the simlock! ... I did this, put the original simcard back in and whahey!!!! It worked (some cast iron security that is)... thank goodness the toerag thief hadn't the marbles to suss that out! .... but then again, nor did I!

I asked them to block the sim and phone , mine is contract , i called up again and talked to another CSA and they transferred the number to a new network , so the sim card is working in another phone but the phone will be blocked until it's took off the blocked phones register, see the results you can get when you get through to someone else

Re: Mobile Phone stolen last night

Are we really in such a terrible state in this country that someone can steal something very personal from your car, then simply bring it back with no recourse at all. Have we really lost that much faith in the Police?

The little **** stole your phone, how many others has the little bastard pocketed to the misery of possibly hundreds. As it stands he's got away with no punishment of any sort at all.

My advice, go speak to a bobby at your local nick because even if you don't want the police to investigate, they still need to know he's a thieving little ****.

I went in today and reported the theft and kept them upto date , unfortunately the pics were unrecoverable , they did not seem to happy when i told them he wiped my data from the memory, they told me not only was it an offence to trespass on to my property / steal my property but to access my data without consent they stepped over the boundary , they also wan't to have words with the Mother for assisting in an offence and trying to cover up an offence

let's hope these get what's coming to them, kudos for the mum for actually bringing it back , but she should have called the police herself , teach her son a lesson

See.... sometimes I can post useful info in these forums!

Glad things are looking slightly rosier for you, Head Shotz! And I hope that the mother and son, both get punished for this crime, even if it's simply a name-and-shaming in the local paper, or a fine!

Nice work, keep us updated mate. That is quite ridiculous at how kids are these days I'm 20 and have never had any mates that have done that sort of thing but it seems it's happening a lot more these days!

Re: Mobile Phone stolen last night

Surely, unless of course you have proof , you cannot disprove the mothers story that the phone was found by her son ,regardless of how unlikely it seems?

Just as you can't prove that she said anything about not involving the Police?
And you can't prove thet he deleted anything.

Unfortunately without such proof the Police are not going to be interested....are they???

I went in today and reported the theft and kept them upto date , unfortunately the pics were unrecoverable , they did not seem to happy when i told them he wiped my data from the memory, they told me not only was it an offence to trespass on to my property / steal my property but to access my data without consent they stepped over the boundary , they also wan't to have words with the Mother for assisting in an offence and trying to cover up an offence

let's hope these get what's coming to them, kudos for the mum for actually bringing it back , but she should have called the police herself , teach her son a lesson
Just be careful mate - if I were the mum I'd be telling them that you and your mates sent death threats to my young son who by the sounds of it is a minor - won't look too good and if the plod choose to be vindictive you could end up in more trouble than the mother...

Personally I would have let sleeping dogs lie rather than risk a counter accusation...

Best of luck though
