Exclamation Swine flu research projects fast-tracked

Fourteen swine flu research projects have been fast-tracked. These include how long someone is contagious for and how effective school closures are in slowing the spread of swine flu. The results will be available by the end of the year.

Re: Swine flu research projects fast-tracked

Personally, I still think we need to know how many people have been infected with H1N1 in this current wave, rather than how many people phoned the help line and/or were prescribed Tamiflu. Also, on a similar vein, why was Swine Flu such a problem in the UK and not much more than a minor inconvenience in other European countries? Was it due to diet, climate, population densities and thus social interactions or some other variable?
Its useful to know how contagious you are after the symptoms appear, but are you contagious before the symptoms show and if so for how long before you go down with it?
Lots of stuff to find out.
