Well the forum has about 300,000 members, what's the average % of gays in the population, about 5% or so isn't it ?

So by rights I suspect we have at least 15,000 kicking around give or take.

So it's looking like my honoury membership is screwed.

Why bother even mentioning it?

This is AVForums - a forum for audiophiles, home cinema buffs and enthusiasts.

It's not a lifestyle forum, openly announcing what your sexual preference on here is like me going on a gay forum and announcing "I've got a 50 incher!!"
While it might get a few risque comments - it's irrelevant on a gay forum.

Before i get flamed, im not a homophobe - i've got gay friends both men and women.

Why do gays feel that they've got to have a "community", we should just all live our lives together.

Do you get someone of asian, or carribean origin asking if there's a black community on here???

No you don't - it has no place here really in MY opinion.

what so the posts about what to have for lunch and how many ppl have been on ur page is about AV?....being gay is a big part of my life...if ur not interested then why even bother coming in the thread?

I was about to post about that. This being the general chat section of the forum, means that it being non-AV related doesn't apply.

IMHO its definitely a lifestyle website. Sure it started as AV forums but you can discuss pretty much everything here when you factor in the Non-AV sub-forums.

We've had a fair few threads with new female members asking, purely out of interest, how many other women members there are. I don't view this thread any differently...

In fact it is probably one heck of a lot safer than the "are there any other believers in God on this forum?" threads

If you're not interested in a thread there is no need to read it much less come and post your reasons why in it ...

I am with you on this one!! I always have arguments with one of my best friends (who is gay) about gay rights etc, about equality, well if somebody wants equality why exclude yourself by having your own ''SPECIAL'' community and going on about it etc etc

One particular example is the recent number of employers who are proud to be amongst the most Gay friendly Employers in the country and advertising this fact on there websites. As a Straight guy this kind kind of makes me feel unwelcome when applying for a job. Imagine if it said ''White Friendly'' or anything else friendly it would never be allowed.

Why can't we all just be people?

Anyway I better shut up as I don't want to get into a big debate about this.
