Conveyancer / Solicitor - what is the difference, and rough cost?

Hi

Just working out costs for selling/buying a house. As we have not sold yet I need to estimate the selling costs, I have everything covered other than Solicitors/Conveyancing Fee.

What is the difference between the two, do they do the same job when selling a house.

Also, on 3 bed semi at about 140k, what would be a very rough cost? I have already taken HIPs, Marketing, Agent fees into account.

Thanks
