i think years ago they put some sort of chalk type substance in dog food but they stopped doing it, hence why no white dog *****

I believe it's because people don't tend to give their dogs bones to chew on any more.

It's because dogs used to be fed a diet of bones and the calcium makes it white. Now dogs are usually fed dog food. Here's another thread:

Unfortunately I saw a huge pile of Human Faeces just outside my work this morning. The other unfortunate thing is that its not un-common
