Passport expiry

We travel to portugal on the 21st aug and return 04th sept the dilema is,

My sons passport runs out on the 25th sept, now i know if travelling to usa you have to have 6 months left on the passport.
Now i've checked with the passport office and they gave me the website of the portuguese embassy and on there site it says as long as the passport is in date it is ok.

But theres just that little bit of doubt in the back of my mind that bugging me, what if we turn up at the airport and he gets refused.

What do you think.

Re: Passport expiry

The missus is always putting off getting a new passport because of the cost, maybe this might spur her on to get one before the price goes up lol.

My daughter travelled to France a few years ago with the in-laws. She was in the same situation as you. I rang the french consulate who confirmed as long as the passport was in date throughout her stay there would be no problem. Safe to say there were no problems

If in dount ring the consulate

Re: Passport expiry

Can't you get your sons passport renewed then? 21st Aug is plenty long enough away to get that done. When I had my new passport it didn't take anywhere near that long, a week max I think.

I was thinking that but with 3 weeks to go did'nt really fancy taking the chance, but with the prices set to rise might just do it cause he can still use the child passport till it expires when he's 20 not sure he will like that.

The passport is actually going up to £77.50 (an increase of 5.50). The increase is greater if you go for one of the quick delivery options but to be honest, the robbing *******s get enough of my money - I'm happy to wait :D

Thing with the passport they seem expensive but it works out at £7.75 per year which isn't a lot of money
