Getting my name off 123people.co.uk

Can this be done? I was amazed to see how much information it has on me and I can't find any details about how to get myself off it. Surely this is an infringement of privacy rights?

Re: Getting my name off 123people.co.uk

I've never heard anything about this site, they don't have anything on me though other than I live in the UK. According to this all their info is from other public sites and they just put it all on one page.

Edit: I typed in one of my friend's names and got his address from Amazon, Myspace music page, cross country race results from a running website and various tags including his old school and bands he has seen.

Re: Getting my name off 123people.co.uk

Exactly. How can this be allowed? Especially when website's T&Cs say they won't share this information with any third parties. At present, I feel like cancelling my Facebook and LinkedIn accounts as a result of this intrusion.

Re: Getting my name off 123people.co.uk

How long does it take to load? I put my name in about 15 mins ago and it's still loading

Edit: Finished loading now, and found no results on me, even though I'm on Facebook, have an Amazon wishlist etc

Re: Getting my name off 123people.co.uk

Looks to be just a search engine that is searching information that you have posted on the Internet. They don't store any information about you so they are not breaching the DPA.

It doesn't find my facebook page but then I have changed all the privacy settings to ensure they are on. It did find an old Amazon wish list I made so i'll go remove it. Kind of useful to find out what info is out there so you can remove it

Re: Getting my name off 123people.co.uk

On a similar note , has anyone had any luck getting their details removed from
192.com?
I have tried on 3 different occasions with no luck ( inc sending by recorded delivery)

Re: Getting my name off 123people.co.uk

I'd never heard of this website until I read this thread. I typed in my name and was shocked to find it has my Amazon wish list on it.

How the **** are companies getting information like this on what is supposed to be a private and secure online account? Will be contacting Amazon straight away.

I've never made a wishlist but are you sure they are private? This site just takes public information from any site that has your name. Try searching your name on Amazon or in the wishlist section and see if you can find it that way.

For dts: Wishlist Search for John Smith and you can view everyone's wishlist with that name, often with their address as well.

I just don't want people knowing what sex toys I'm buying next......

Seriously though, I could have had lots of things in it that I was going to buy for relatives for birthdays etc. More than that, what business is it of total strangers or people I don't get on with what I plan to buy?

Re: Getting my name off 123people.co.uk

Just tried this out of curiousity and it didn't find any particular info about me, a Google search reveals more.

Find a Wish List

Amazon provide the same service as 123people.co.uk, so it's no biggy that 123people.co.uk display the same data.
