Good Shaver

Heya guys, I am on the lookout for a new shaver since the one I have had for about 10 years I dropped hehe

I was thinking of the Philips F1 or the first in the 8200 series. REALLY dont want to fork out more than £100.

Anyone have either of these shavers or can recommend another. I would prefer the Flat Triangle Head shavers connected to the base if you get what I mean.

Re: Good Shaver

I have the previous Williams versions & it's OK, nothing more. But then I don't really get on with electrics.

Battery seems a bit weak compared to a high-end Philips I had a few years back & the trimmer is poor. But then I only paid around £30 for it on an Amamzon offer. Certainly not worth the supposed full price but then I don't think any of them are.

If you search this forum there's been a few shaving threads. eg:

Shaving

Electric shavers

Electric Razors...

Mens Grooming

What electric shaver?

etc.

Re: Good Shaver

I've had a Philips Cool Skin shavor since Christmas. I'd been using a Gillet Fusion before that but wanted something quicker than a wet shave.

I've been really impresed with it, and the shaving lotion it uses means you can use it with a wet face (even in the shower)

The refill lotion costs about £7-£8 but lasts me about 3months at a time and I use it every day.

Have a look on Electric Shaver and Razor Specialists - Philishave, Braun, Remington and Panasonic... mate, I managed to pick up a body shaver for £15 less than it was in a local boots.

Re: Good Shaver

I prefer shavers in the Braun/Remington mode.
I find their 'horizontal' blades better.
I find the Philips-style circular blades a pain once you get up near sideburns etc.
After all, difficult to get straight lines from a circle...

Re: Good Shaver

I've never got on with Philishaves myself, and for the last 12 years or so I've used Panasonic rechargeable wet/dry ones. When used with shaving foam these give a really close shave and are very comfortable. This one is in your price range.

With this one do you have to use the moisturizer or can u shave without it.

As with my old one I just shaved after I got out of the shower, didnt use anything before hand.

Edit
I am considering getting this one as the only bad points I can find is the number of shaves per charge so far.
Philips HQ7390/17 Williams F1 Mains Rechargeable Shaver: Amazon.co.uk: Health & Beauty

Also I am not sure if I can be arsed with all the moisturizer stuff.

Re: Good Shaver

I've just gone through the same machinations this week. I had a 15 year old 4870 which had never had its blades changed and has had two new batteries. But as new blades would be £25 and a new battery about £15, it didn;t seem worth it.

So, not an attractive purchase, but this at £44.03 delivered looked the ticket.

Philips Philishave HQ7260 Sports Shaver

I've used it twice; very quiet, light and superior cut to the one I had. But then again sharpened flint woud have been better! I like this one because it washes out under a hot top (although it snot suitable for use in a shower).

WOW that is one narly shaver, looks like a transformer in disguise hehehe. Dont think ive ever seen one quite like that before.

I managed to find the head over the weekend to my old one so hopefully I can save myself a few bob hehe.

The one I currently have is a Philips 4601. Heads I dont believe have ever been changed and it sounds like its still going ok. Gonna give it a full charge overnight but I will eventually need to decide what to do.

Yeah, it's not the prettiest, but as I'm the only one to see it and use it, I don't give a toss about its styling and looks! It does what it says on the tin, even if the tin is pants!

Re: Good Shaver

I use a Braun 390 cc, good value, good shave and the cleaning station has a cool glowing blue light when you turn it on, which is just what you want from a shaver.
