Thanks: Gave 20, Got 82 | Parking for M.E.N ?? Any tips
I'm off to see Pearl Jam on the 17th has anyone got any inside info on good car parks around the M.E.N instead of the obvious multi-storey. I hate those places !.
Any info appreciated.
Chris

Thanks: Gave 199, Got 259 | re: Parking for M.E.N ?? Any tips thought the thread was parking for MEN, not the M.E.N....

There is a car park right across the road form there but i am unsure about the opening times, my mate works in the town centre and until the M.E.N lowered there parking prices he used to park across the road from the entrance to the M.E.N, parking was about £3 a day.
There is also the boddies brewery which i think is a car park now again unsure on closing times
I know you hate the muti story car parking but it will be a lot safer and just as cheap to park there IMO get there a bit early get a decent spot only other problem will be leaving the concert as im sure others may be parking there nothing worse than waiting to get out of a multi story with a hundred others

Ill text my mate now and see what time these adjacent car parks close/and if you can park when there when there are functions on

Yeah, about 15 years ago I parked in the multi story thinking wow, this is convenient.
Was still in there around 1 am
Phil
Edit - seriously, if you park somewhere, make sure you know which exit to come out of to get back to your car park. It is a large place, and if you come out of the wrong exit you will have a hell of a job getting back to the car park, as it's not entirely obvious which road you'll be on when you leave.

Kop | The NCP Car parks have what's called "The City of Manchester Incident Response" (i work for them but not on the NCP contract) they do routine checks from 1800-0600 hrs kicking out druggies that are shooting up or sleeping in the stairwell & catching and car thieves and have GMP trained dogs also most NCP car parks are CCTV'ed up to the eyeballs and are in direct radio contact with the Officers.
Just my two pence, but the NCP car parks close to the MEN (Printworks, Arndale, Church Street & Exchange do get rather busy so best to try and leave early !
Also the closer into the centre the more expensive. Avoid Great Northern & G-Mex as its up to £5 just for the 1st hour.
I'd recommend, either Oxford Street (could be a bit far if walking) or The Grand (near Piccadilly Station) as they are regularly checked and The Grand isn't to far away from the MEN (bout 5 mins walk) or even China Town (open air not multi-story & is normally empty just full of punters and workers from Long Legs)

There's plenty of carparking on the road that leads to Deansgate (can't remember the nemae). Loads of blokes on the side of the road with signs saying 'Arena parking'. don' take the 1st one you see as you'll have ages to walk. I parked up fairly close to the arena. Cost a fiver for the evening. had no problesm getting away afterwards. No idea if the have any security on during the showtime.
