Have you chosen not to go somewhere because of swine flu?

Have you chosen to not go somewhere or do something because of the threat of swine flu to you or your family?

Only in the sense that I've 'suggested' that my oldest lad (17) misses a few parties and other gatherings. But only because he's on school football tour to South Africa next week - and I'd hate him to miss it (or worse to fall I'll whilst on it)

No. It did cross my mind whether to go as planned to the Bluwater shopping centre today, but decided to go anyway.

Nope, just been on a business trip to Sweden, so was crammed into a plane with a hundred or so people for a couple of hours each way.

No ill effects yet...

Re: Have you chosen not to go somewhere because of swine flu?

My lad was dignosed with it on Monday (and had Tamiflu) so has been stuck inside for the last 5 days. We had a party to go to today but thought it'd be the proper thing to stay away as there will be loads of kids there.

He will be released at Hyde park tomorow for the wife's race for life though

Sorry for the shameless link

Re: Have you chosen not to go somewhere because of swine flu?

No, but after 7 of my mates picked it up at Glasto I might do in the future, luckily all have recovered

It looks like my sister could have it though, so there's every possibility I'll get it soon too

Re: Have you chosen not to go somewhere because of swine flu?

Well I arrived here in Bahrain for holiday yesterday and everyone was wearing masks at the air port to protect themselves from swine flu. Apparently it's killed quite a few people here.

Yes, my 7 year old daughter suffers from Asthma. She loves to go swimming at the local baths, but we decided we don't want to take the risk of her catching something there.

Re: Have you chosen not to go somewhere because of swine flu?

Ha ha - i voted "NO".

We've had two tested and confirmed in my depatment (i speak to this guy everyday) and at least half a dozen off which are good suspects, plus a bunch more i suspect are malingering

But no, it hasn't made me avoid going to work. Of course now i feel a bit rubbish, have been for a couple of weeks, so probably have a mild case or lowered immune letting something else hit me. Wanted to say hi at AVF in case this is my last post...

I voted yes, my 3yr old is due to go to the 'Milkshake' Show in August but as we also have a 6 month old we decided the risk is just not worth it.

But how long are you going to not take her swimming for ?

H1N1 will be us for years. So does that mean you won't take here swimming, or let her go back to school until she gets vaccinated ?

Re: Have you chosen not to go somewhere because of swine flu?

I havn't and thought anyone would b e silly to not go somewhere because of it, then I read the first reply, and well, yeah, that actually makes perfect sense.

I didn't quite think of it in the sense that some people will not go visit friends or family because the household has it, in that case I'd definitely not go there, I don't think it'd be a wise idea.

But i've not chosen to avoid public places - shopping centres, gigs, airports, planes, public transport etc.

Yes, until she gets vaccinated the risk is too much. She has severe Asthma and is on very strong nebulisers. If she got any type of Flu the risk is high, let alone Swine Flu. We have been told she is top of the list once a vaccine is out there (hopefully August).

I don't take the health of my daughter lightly. Avoiding very public places where there is a higher risk of catching anything is something we will do until she is vaccinated. You might think that's harsh or over the top, but it's my childs health and I'll do what I think is necessary.

I think in a case like this it is necessary to avoid going places like swimming pools etc...
