tips/things to look for when buying car

hey guys,
am helping a lady friend of mine look for a car tonight. we are both students and its only a second hand car with an auto gear box. small thing like a astra sized thing.

anyways what shall we ask to see papers wise?

and any things i/we can look at on the car?

HI,

A good start is four wheels, all the requisite doors, the full interior (seats, ignition, mirrors, etc) and a complete, working engine.

Anything above that is a bonus.
