Housing Benefit not paid for two months - HELP!

I've been on Housing Benefit at my shared accommodation place for years now, but recently a former neighbour of my family also moved in and claimed Housing Benefit. Then my landlord went away to Mexico for a month or two.

Now he's called me to say he hasn't received my rent money in his account for May and June, and he's getting concerned. I've had to contact the Benefits Agency to clear things up, they say the payments are going out yet my LL's not receiving them. It's likely that they think I've gone and that the new tenant is in my room, so they stopped my payments. Only a theory, mind.

But then I got concerned that I didn't tell them about the change in circumstances (new tenant moving in), yet they say his benefits will not affect mine.

So now I've got them investigating the situation, and I've even given my landlord the Landlord Liaison Team number so he can discuss the situation with them.

I only hope everything goes OK and that I don't get into trouble.

Keep the landlord involved,it will take months for him to get you out if he decides to,I know I had to get a tenant out and it took over 6 months, ask the agency if the cheques have been cashed they should have a record,he should also be getting letters saying that a payment has been put into his account if its paid direct ,its not the the new tennants money not being paid and he has you mixed up with him, just a thought?
