Teletext to go in 6 months

I will miss the financial pages on C4 - find them better than Ceefax equivalent.

I haven't used telextext since I got Sky, but prior to this I really enjoyed it.

Wow that game was ace.

Seriously though, who the hell still uses teletext? Probably the same people who still use tapes and VHS and have pulse dialing telephones

Indeed it does

Same here, I remember before we got Sky teletext was the only way to check the footy scores!

Re: Teletext to go in 6 months

Saw this earlier, sad news.
I used to spend ages on Ceefax to kill time. I'd get my daily news, my gaming fix from Digitizer, read the outrageous small ads and who could forget Bamboozle?

Seems bits of it will live on though. Holidays?

Re: Teletext to go in 6 months

Sad news.

But then, I just worked out when I last used teletext. Stopped using it when I got my first projector...

...19th November 1994.

She'll be OK then. It's Teletext (used to be called ORACLE) that's going, not CEEFAX.

It's never worked properly on DVB-T anyway.

Re: Teletext to go in 6 months

I remember bamboozle LOL those were the days.

I still use teletext, it's much quicker than the digi version by a country mile and actually uses the whole screen not a ting portion covered with adverts!

My Dad used to have a TV that you could select and move up the sub pages of a teletext page with the remote not when teletext felt like, great feature.

Re: Teletext to go in 6 months

Sorry, but I'd rather focus on the internet.

With Ceefax/Oracle/Teletext/Whatever you're looking at early 80's BBC Micro model B "graphics". I should know, I programmed the damn things.

Re: Teletext to go in 6 months

Great for news/footy/weather/finance.

From switching the telly I can get the news (teletext/ceefax) in 3 seconds. I agree that things change when I want to go to different pages.

I can still remember pre BBC Micro graphics, when "Grand Prix Racing" involved driving the letter "H" around a maze of grey and black squares.

Almost incomprehensible leap in development.

I'm with VM and you can't get digital telextext through the standard set top box. Don't know if it's possible with V+
