Re: Recommend me smoothie maker/blender?
Bought this one from Tesco a couple of months ago. Use it for frozen fruit smoothies after a run plus general cutting / chopping / blending duties for cooking. Yeah - it's cheap and you can tell - but it seems pretty good so far especially as it come with a whisk and cutting pot thing too
If you use the blender pole thingy in the jug, you just need to rinse that under the tap then rinse out the jug.
Man, I'm SO down with my technical words today

Re: Recommend me smoothie maker/blender?
You need one of these Blendtec blenders.
Don't know how easy it is to wash up but it will blend anything.

Can't go wrong with Kitchen Aid, expensive but reassuringly so.

Re: Recommend me smoothie maker/blender?
i'd recommend the kenwood smoothie maker here.
we have one and it's very good although we dont use it much
has blend and pulse functions dependent on how you like it - also has a stirry bit on the top and a tap to pour into your glass.
all comes apart when you are finished, so easy to clean.

Re: Recommend me smoothie maker/blender?
Thanks for the replies, I don't know whether to go cheap and cheerful or a bit more pricey. Blendtec looks amazing but Mrs P will have a fit at the price. All the cheaper ones seem to not last very long if you use them more than a couple of times a week according to amazon reviews. I want a kitchenaid mixer in a while and will be expecting a free blender with it but that will be next year, maybe a kenwood one for now. I will post back results in due course. It's going to get used daily for whey powder and fruit etc so I won't be happy if its leaking after a couple of weeks? You never know whether to spend more on stuff like this. Panasonic breadmaker now 2 years old and used daily, still going strong

I'd second that I had a Kitchen Aid in the UK and it was brilliant, plus the warranty is very good too...

Re: Recommend me smoothie maker/blender?
Ordered the Kenwood Smoothie To Go maker as suggested by Mooperman, £17.50 on Amazon, Kitchen Aid will have to wait until the credit crunch is over

Re: Recommend me smoothie maker/blender?
if you want easy to wash up, just get a conventional blender. If you want a bit more washing up work to do, get a smoothie maker
any blender will do the job, but as with all these things going too cheap can be a false economy. go mid-range and you shouldnt have a problem.
