Re: Girl's death takes flu toll to 16

So sad, its getting pretty worrying, today we had a letter from our boys school saying that they have a pupil with swine flue. I feel they are not giving us enough info and are just advising to be aware and to keep an eye on your children if they develope the symptoms to ring nhs etc etc.... I would like to know what year this unluck child is so that at least it gives us a clear view if our child has come in direct contact with them.

We are now in a dialema to weather keep our lad in school for the next four days as his term ends on friday. he is in good health with no other complications but we both work (the wife and me) with the general public and some of them are old or have health problems, and we dont want to become carriers and infect others. I may be just running my mind ragid but its a hard thing to decide.

what are your thoughts?

Re: Girl's death takes flu toll to 16

Chloe was the daughter of a friend of mine , i knew her mum for a few years as both my children used to go to that school too , i am still in touch with many of the parents and spoke to some of them today the whole community is in total shock at this sad news.
i went to work today (at another local school) and my boy was sitting in the medical room with a temp of 38.6 and a sore throat i took him straight home i have managed to get his temp down but he is still complaining of a sore throat and its not like him at all to complain, will see how he is in the morn and then decide what to do.
at this moment in time i dont know weather im coming or going

(ps i am the better half of Stevefish69)

Yes , very sad news and very worrying as perfectly healthy people are now falling victim to this .
Reading the on-line news this morning a second wave of the flu is expected later in the year .

If I heard a kid at our school had got swine flu, there is no way either of mine would be going in. Minor inconvenience means nothing compared to the welfare of the kids.

Hi Stuart, dont get me wrong its no hassle or inconvineance keeping my kids safe and out of harms way but it seems the school etc are putting a low key approach to it. saying to keep on as normal, surely this kind of attitude or approach is just going to cause the flu to spread much more quickly. I thought that schools had been shut down before when a pupil got confirmed or is that after a few cases?

Re: Girl's death takes flu toll to 16

There were 2 confirmed cases last Thursday at the primary school in Leicestershire that two of my children attend.

Fortunately Leicestershire schools closed for Summer holidays last Friday but i know for sure my children wouldn't have been attending this week if they were still in Term.

especially with a 3wk old baby at home
