Star wars figures! And valuing experts!!

hi!!

i am aiming to clear out my loft soon and i know that i have like 50-100 star wars figures!!!

i was wondering if there any collectors out there who could guide me on how much they are valued?!

they are the usual hasbro ones ranging from episode1 and 4 to 6 (original trilogy)

i have pretty much all main characters (i have every version of luke skywalker - sad i know)

would it be better to job lot it of batches or individuals?!

also, anyone whose an expert on valuing the following:

retro gaming stuff - snes, saturn, dreamcast n64 etc
anime collectibles - for example, i have to amazing initial D rotating model with a mirror and when you press the buttin, it lights up slightly and in the reflection , you see the cars mechanics!!!!

thank you for your time!!

Re: Star wars figures! And valuing experts!!

The problem with figures is the market, i've seen some on ebay for well over £50 a piece, yet you can see the same things in shops marked up for less, but obviously the risk with ebay is they might go undetected. But it is generally regarded as one of the best places for selling them due to the huge scale of the market.

I can't value them for you as i'm not an expert on them, and I wouldn't like to give inaccurate estimates. Of course figures that are still in original packaging and not opened or played with will hold greater value, it is often said by collectors that just opening the packaging can decrease the value by 50%.
Collectors will rate condition of a C scale of 1 to 10, 10 being Mint. You have Mint in Box and Mint in Sealed Box also.
For Star Wars there are also things such as Original Trilogy, Special Edition etc. I'm sure there are sites out there to help with it or maybe people can recommend places to check them, i'd look on ebay and see if what you have is around on there and what it's going for on average.

In regards to retro consoles, they're not really of much value, I picked up a NES not too long back due to my old one dying and it was still pretty cheap, and the games go for 99p + shipping on ebay, I know N64's etc still pop up in Gamestation and on ebay - can check both of them for estimates prices I guess.

Anime collectables to the right person can go for OTT prices, you want to check ebay and various sites such as ForbiddenPlanet who might still be selling them to get a rough estimate.

Or you can hope someone on here has more knowledge than I do on the matter, figures are not really my area but maybe what i've said can be of some help

Re: Star wars figures! And valuing experts!!

My girlfriend's brother sold a lot recently and the best guide to values is keeping watching Ebay for them.

The most valuable figures are actually the "Last 17" figures that were issued for the original trilogy.
The last 17 are...

1. Amanaman
2. A-wing pilot
3. Anakin
4. Barada
5. EV-9D9
6. Han in carbonite
7. Imperial Dignitary
8. Imperial gunner
9. Lando general
10. Luke Battle poncho
11. Luke in Stormtrooper disguise
12. Lumat
13. Paploo
14. R2-D2 w/ pop up lightsaber
15. Romba
16. Warok
17. Yak Face

Search on Ebay for "Star Wars Vintage Last 17" and you'll find them.
The normal figures are not worth a great deal, just check Ebay for current prices.
Some sell in lots, some sell individually.

The super rare ones are Jawa in plastic cloak and Hoth Storm Trooper with grey arms & legs I think from memory.

Re: Star wars figures! And valuing experts!!

One thing you didn't specify - are all these figures released since 1997?

Obviously the figures from the 70s/80s are the ones that will bring in the most cash - the newer figs, depending on who they are, may well be classed as peg warmers and not even fetch their original selling price.

There will be some items that will fetch a premium - things that were US/Europe etc. exclusives, figures that were mail-away only, vehicles that were specific store only.

If you want to send a list/pics, I can have a look.

Its painfull - I have an attic filled with the stuff - I managed to get every figure from the relaunch in '97 right up to the episode 2 figures. I had to stop after that. Can't shift a lot of them.

Now I buy Lego!

Re: Star wars figures! And valuing experts!!

My mother is an expert, I'll send her round yours to get rid for you.

Circa 1987 when I was approx 12 she decided to sell my entire Stars Wars collection to a neighbour who had younger children. But don't worry, she gave me ALL the money so spend on whatever I wanted!!

Millenium Falcon
AT-AT
Scout Walker
X-Wing
Y-Wing
Some sausage looking thing vechicle
Snow spaceship thing
Ewok bike things x 2
Darth Vaders fighter
couple of other vechicles

Jabba's the Huts den & approx 100 figures, all mint with weapons etc including some rare ones you had to send off for....

Total value £12 :go d:

Re: Star wars figures! And valuing experts!!

thanks for the help guys!

they are mostly from the mid 90's onwards. i have about 10-20 70's ones but they are all loose and condition not that great if i remember.

i know most of the new version ones are gonna be no where near the original price (it was like around about a tenner werent they1?!!?) but just wondered if its a matter of a couple of pounds or maybe pushing to around £5-£8 those few pounds could make a world of a difference after selling the lot!!!

i cant take a photo just yet as they are in my loft and i am trying to put off into going there! i may get lost...in a galaxy far far away...(i had to)

My Death Star Driod became terribly 'slack'.
I had to use him as a dead person all the time as he wouldn't stand up.

then there was my trusty stead - thunder tank! with like 10 figures

We seem to have gone off on a tangent here.

I had Space 1999 eagles that used to 'fly' out of my bedroom window.

While I agree that we can all look back now and say, 'its worth this, its worth that' I am much happier that I got to play with all my stuff when I was a kid. You can't put a price on all those epic space battles you know.

My Dad sold all mine and kept the money. I had limited edition stuff too only from the US. One was a Darth Vader head case to put the figures in.

Re: Star wars figures! And valuing experts!!

iirc my Mum binned all of our Star Wars stuff sometime in the mid 90's when all of us kids had moved out of the family home and she cleared out the attic, there was about 100 figures, Rebel Transporter, Millenium Falcon, X-Wing, Tie Fighter, AT AT, Speeder Bikes and god only knows what else, I do remember some of the stuff we had to send away for so could have been quite rare, would love to know what it all would be worth these days.
