Re: can you help seagull problem

you could go out wearing a pointy hat?

in all seriousness this reminds me of a sky news stoy i saw monday morning, about a new york bird that was swooping down and hitting people on the head as they walked past.

I guess they are nesting nearby and protecting the nest - can the council move them on?

Short of that, a cat on your head

Don't run or duck - they'll mark you as an easy target! When you see one swoop down raise your arms up and they will keep a good clearance! It's just the time of year unfortunately.

Saw one attacking a guy today in Eastbourne, they swoop down and lift at the last minute. Just ignore them, and if they get close enough give it a smack!

Re: can you help seagull problem

Try one of these, they use them at marinas to try and keep the birds from crapping on the boats:

Force 4 Seagull Scarer 9" - Only £9.95 - Force 4 Chandlery

These work very well, you do need to move it every few days or they suss it out.

As soon as I got to the word lift all I could picture was a Seagull flying off with a poor bloke in its claws.

Re: can you help seagull problem

- flamethrower
- lightsaber
- have someone in a nearby trawler throw sardines into the sea
- have a short fat film director make a cameo appearance outside your flat

Re: can you help seagull problem

That's probably light hearted but hopefully the OP will know not to follow the advice and kill the first unsuspecting cat or garden bird that happens upon it

Re: can you help seagull problem

Birds (and many other animals) tend to not like sudden moves or something that suddenly grows larger than it was.

Throw your hands straight up above your head, then spread them out, it scares the (rubbish) out of them.

Unfortunately, their rubbish almost always ends up on my car afterwards.

Jas.

Wrap bicarb of soda or baking powder in white bread. Throw it up at them, (they'll take it on the wing) then an umbrella might be wise.
