Miller Homes

Hi all
Looking for some advice,

I bought a house from miller homes november 2006. As with all new homes there was a fair amount of snagging to be done, but my daughters room which is above the garage was very very cold. I thought it might be normal as its over the garage but after 4 visits by miller homes which included a visit by the NHBC it turns out that half the room didnt have any insulation!!!
Since i moved in i have had to fit an electric blanket to my daughters bed and run the heating all night to give the room some heat.
I contacted miller homes regarding compensation who have since told me NO!! surely im due something as the house wasnt built to the recommended standards
Can anyone give me some advice please

thanks in advance

martin

If you have sky TV and can watch Hlomes on homes this is his 1 major bug bear you need the ceiling dropped ,and spray foamed on the front wall above the garage door and major insulation fitted which has to be fire rated then 2 layers of plaster board or 1 layer of fire rated 15mm,it poss to make it 1 of the warmest in the house ,is it timber framed or block and brick ,if timber then a vapour barrier is needed as well.

I dont think they want an how to guide on insullation, go back to the NHBC, if the property wasnt built to the correct specifcations then it should be put right at no cost to you.

Re: Miller Homes

Just checked NHBC site ,the builder is resoncable for the first 2 yrs ,after that it's NHBC,but they do not cover what his problem is only the structure of the building, which what I thought as I'm building my own house and you would be surprised what does not have to be checked.

Re: Miller Homes

Also aslong as the house meets overal insulation speces ie 1 room could be compensating for loss.

Re: Miller Homes

You got off lightly! Failing to install proper insulation seems minor compared to what Miller Homes have put me through since I bought my flat from them in 2008!
