I see it all now

Hi folks.

Being a newbie here I am not sure where this thread should go. However I will post and hope the admins will correct me.

My query is about rope lights. I am quite keen to install some mains powered - and therefore dimmable - rope lighting along the coving of my study. Either bright white or warm white. Before I do so I have been told that these things get very hot and have caused fires. Would it be better to install low volt rope lights and avoid that and will said low volts be as bright as mains ones? I know the transformer will get hot but it can be installed is a fireproof place.

Best regards.........Effalump

Try asking or viewing on this sub forum Here

I use LED lighting for ambient lighting behind my Plasma and it runs cool

Re: I see it all now

My shed has some rope light love going on during the summer months

They cheapo mains powered jobbies that were picked up in a local charity shop. They actually have loads of very small bulbs inside and run cool to the touch.

Sorry, but i couldn't resist posting the pic

Re: I see it all now

Thanks all for the replies. As I see it I would prefer some LED rope lights. I have seen several on the net but I don't know which ones are dimmable yet. I don't need colours just a plain or warm white static string.

Thats not a KKk outfit. It's either a Ghost cloak for Halloween or where he hides his sex dolls.

[no offence meant]
