Don't know of anything down that way.
Highclere Castle near Newbury has an Egyptian exhibition, it's Lord Carnavons pad so contains lots of stuff Howard Carter found at King Tuts tomb.
Otherwise all I know of is the British Museum in London.

There is an extremely good one in Durham, Welcome to the Oriental Museum - Durham University, which has everything you're looking for.

There's a really great museum dedicated to ancient Egypt in Cairo!
Sorry.

I would love to go to Cairo | Can't beat being face to face with the gold mask, and the amount of items on display from his tomb is amazing, even more so when you consider that 10,000 items were put together in the short space of time they have when a Pharaoh dies to go in his tomb.

I would love to go to Cairo | I would have got the train straight into central London, rather than drive in and have to find cheap parking!

I found the British Musuem to be very 'dry' for my kids (as opposed to the Science or Natural History ) so if they are younger than 10 you might be better off waiting.
Maidstone Museum has a mummy and small Egyptian section in a musuem that is a bit like a junior compendium of the specialist ones.
