I was just demoted for lag in a match freezing my xbox

next match i play i do well and i am demoted for something that is not at all my fault

what is the point for losing ranks - its a load of crap

Happened to me the other day and as I have never quit a match since the xp system hit I lost 1500 points for not completing. What a crok

i have never quit a match rankin system or not i never quit

i have played halo matches 4 vs 1 because my team has quit but i will not

then when something happens that is not my fault i am labelled a quiter and penalised

the reason why it happens is because people quit to the dashboard to try and fool it into a disconnect but it doesnt' work.

personally i think u should just be allowed to quit, there has been many games where i had to play a game when it was just me against 5 players due to people quitting out.

worst thing is once everyone has eventually got to rank 100 for the achievements, they will start quitting out all the time as they won't care anymore about the ranking score.

its lame - if people wanna quit go ahead there should be a limit as to how many matches per 24hours you can quit from eg 2 as theres occassionally times when someone callsyou to do something and you really need to do that and dont wanna just stand there while your mates die etc

If you quit to dashboard before the game has finished "updating network settings" you can be hit with a 1500 point penalty. Once you have found a oppostition team and started loading the lobby you must complete it until the above is finished after the match.

Another reason you could have been penalised is if you were host and your connection dropped out badly for some of the guys connected to you.

I did once have to go out quickly so I just turned the console off and thought I'd have to take the -1500, funny thing is when I went back on the XP hadn't been taken off me. If you leave and don't engage matchmaking straight away again I think it can let you off. Not tried to confirm this so I may have just been lucky at the time.

theres possibly a time limit then of it will penalise you if you re-matchmake in a certain time

b. i was speaking to and playing with mattclarkie and when i came back online he was still in the game etc

As level 100 is 6.5 million xp points I guess it may take at least a year or two for the quitting to start unless we have no job or life so we can play 24 7.

Strangely today the matches were largely lag free, while you were proclaiming it was lagging all over and you couldn't even walk. The only real issue I had was when I get stuck and just walked on the spot . But just like you, the other day the game went ubber laggy and the whole console locked-up. I always find that happens in a match where people are glitching, the console gets confused due to people glitching and falls over.

it only lagged for a bit at the beginning it was fine after that - it just needed time to smooth out (that or turn off their lag switches)

in general i dont get much lag

I have found a number of times that the first round is the worst so if you can survive it you can still have a decent game as afterwards its so much better

the lag was present at the beginning of the match eg first round it then went away completely and i continued the round perfectly fine no bullet or movement lag

then the beginning of the next round it was back again

i dont understand it

last week i got disconnected from the host about 5 times, not once did i get penalised points for it.

That isn't penalised, the host who quits gets penalised, but it isn't 'Your fault' if the connection to the host is lost. But pulling your ethernet would lose connection to Live and not the host so the game would know you did it rather than the host quitting.

ye it really annoys me when the host quits - i am normally having a good game when they quit and they just cant handle it so quit

i therefore get none of that earned XP or the kills etc

You should get the points in realtime like you do with R6V2, that way you don't lose out if the host quits. Thankfully I haven't had it happen much on GoW2, but on R6V it happened alot, and on that game like GoW you got the points at the conclusion of the game.

ye, i do like CoD and R6V2 for the fact you get the XP in realtime and can see how far you have to go until the next level
as on GOW2 its flashed for a couple of seconds and that it really

im expecting to lose another 1.5k which is absoloute rubbish as well as what i earned in the game

twice this has happened that im happily playing a game and it freezes - io lose all my in game EXP and probably another 1500 on top of that

its a load of crap this ranking system

That's because you weren't lagging so much it took 10 presses of B to finally execute a downed enemy .

My 360 has never frozen playing Gears 2, I did once have a instance where the framerate dipped to around 5 fps for a few seconds but thats the only real serious problem I've ever had. I don't know any of my friends who have ever had this issue either so if I was you I'd check your disk is perfect then I'd start to suspect you could have the beginnings of RROD.

I am of course speaking from a very limited capture group though so if someone else gets these problems frequently then please correct me. Also, do you run the game from the HDD as this could help such issues if it's heat related or indeed disk orientated.

Its running from disk, my console is not at all old - it was replaced for a jasper in game in maybe feb. I run from the disk as its fairly quiet and i have my surround sound turned up
I will check my disk and report back later

Though its only ever happened when its been lagging etc
