Last chance for me...then it goes in the bin.

Hey all,

As I'm sure most of you are aware, there's been a rash of cheating going on and it looks like it's due to a security vulnerability that was introduced in the previous title update. We've fixed the problem and are working hard to get the latest title update with the fix tested and certified.

Beyond the hacking fix, there will also be some other awesome improvements and fixes in TU5. As an example, we've fixed "sticky walk", we've fixed the Subway exploit and we've added the ability to see friendly planted grenades in Tac/Com.

I'm sorry for those of you that have been affected by cheaters and we'll be doing everything we can to rectify it.

same old nonesense same old rubbish i actually found playing online with friends to be quite enjoyable recently but still shckingly poor

Indeed its a bloody joke.....i wish i was not banned from the epic forums because i post Naughty Dogs email address on there and say contact these people to sort out your online gaming issues!!!

As i haven't touched Gears2 since August I may give it a bash after the update and if not happy i'll trade it for a fiver (if im lucky)

The thing that really ruins the game is the crippling LAG! Its quite clear that they wont/cant do anything about it so TU5 wont help me one jot. Havent played for months so havent seen any of the "new" cheating. Doesnt surprise me tho.

Shame but Epic really ****** this up. Always GOW3 to look forward to

The whole GoW2 farce has ruined my MP gameplay. I don't play MP games any more, I don't speak to the old crowd any more. It's hardly worth having a Gold sub thesedays.

EPIC have a lot to answer for.

A few of us are playing Fifa 10 mate and I think a few more have their eyes on Modern Warfare 2. Agreed GOW2 was an Epic Fail! Couldn't give one how many updates they launch now it just isn't going to be right.

I think there's a few folks feeling like that Karl, and its a real shame that we all got sooooooooo hyped up for 'The 2nd Coming', and it failed to deliver, and we've all just kind of gone our separate ways now.

What we need is a multiplayer game, where you can play Social and Ranked games, where lag is not really an issue, where you can perhaps play some like 'custom' games when there's enough of us on.......perhaps throw some vehicles in..........a good mix of weapons.........oh, and something that was developed by a company with a proven track record of FPS success..........and lobbies that don't take ages to work would be nice.......and what would be a really sweet feature would be if you could review these custom AVF games after the event, and take some cool pictures and videos of all the carnage and share 'em with your friends.......

Hold on a minute.......all that sounds very familiar

Really? REALLY? You actually think that about Halo 3?

As much as I love Halo and Bungie, and as much as the lag is less of an issue than on this broken online farce, Halo has a lot to answer for.

I'd probably be a 50 if I lived in America - no joke.

Cheers matey. But, I don't 'do' football (only played FIFA 06 for a badge at 360v

) and CoD MP just bores me after a couple of games.

I have thought about breaking out Halo

but it leaves me cold after a few games too.

I don't know what it was about GoW but I could play it all night and still want more. I hope the magic comes back with GoW3, but I won't hold my breath and I'll be holding off on buying it until I've had some decent feedback.

I agree its a good game IMO. Stick to friendly matches = no lag. A rank number & lag is not worth the hassle. Getting a bit fed up of the moaning about the game. If you don't like it sell it & move on.

Even got a little exciting towards the end with a head to head decider against the self proclaimed master himself, only for him to be gunned down by my superior, although often played down, natural abilities

I thought I'd leg it as not much else could eclipse that in one evening for me

I heard it does but only if you can run from one end of canals to the other without dying but avoiding Justin's Torque Bow, Drinks' hand gun, Kop's sniper and finally the coup de grâce being Tetlee's frag tag. Run that gauntlet and you really are deserving of something pretty damn special

I read there's also a special medal for doing it as the Cole Train and shouting into your mic "you can't stop the train baby" the whole way.

OFFICIAL: TU5 passed Certification! [UPDATED]

Hey all,

TU5 has passed certification and we're now just waiting to hear when it will go live! It may be as early as 5 AM EST on Friday (Oct 23) or as late as 5 AM EST on Monday (Oct 26). Once TU5 has rolled out and fixed our security issue then the leaderboard cleanups will begin.

Gears of War 2 Title Update 5 Detailed Release Notes

The following fixes and improvements are included in Title Update 5.

Improvements

Title Update 5 makes these new improvements:
Adds the ability to view friendly-planted grenades in Tac/Com.
Removes the cringe caused when a smoke grenade forces a player to drop a meatshield.
Adds bonus points to the winning leader's score in the Guardian game mode if the leader successfully survives the winning round.
Changes the postmatch Invite button to only invite former teammates, so a player can create parties more easily instead of trying to create a Private Match that includes both teams from the former match.
Returns the roadie-run camera movements to the way they were in Gears of War 1 by decreasing the dampening values.
Exploit Fixes

Title Update 5 fixes these possible exploits, where under certain circumstances:
A player could modify the game's behavior due to a security vulnerability introduced in an earlier title update.
A player could use a turbo controller to artificially maximize their rate of fire.
A player could mantle a planted shield in competitive multiplayer to hide inside geometry or to travel outside of the map. The ability to mantle shields was removed in competitive multiplayer but remains in Horde and Campaign.
Title Update 5 also fixes a number of other, lesser-known exploits.

General Fixes

Title Update 5 fixes these other issues as well:
An issue that contributed to the "sticky walk" problem, where a player's avatar could stutter after the player picks up a weapon.
An issue that could prevent players from hearing the "boom" telegraph from Boomers.
An issue that could cause looping audio to continue playing after the player who triggered that sound is killed.
An issue that could cause multiple names to be highlighted yellow on the scoreboard instead of the name of the player viewing the scoreboard.
An issue that prevented the game from granting the earned experience points from the fiftieth wave of Horde.
An issue that caused players at level 100 to see the "congratulations" message after every match.
Title Update 5 also made additional small bug fixes.

the one fix to the game i wanted was for me to be able to choose which game/map i could in ranked matches like we used to do with gears 1, yet again they haven't altered it, im still not playing it again until i get the option to pick a map and a game mode i want to play, not to vote for it.

That's a lot of bugs for a game which has had 4 title updates already so surely there can't be many more. Well not played in a couple of months so I think it's time to jump back in the gears saddle and give it another go

This game is broken.

. I wish I have not bought this game. Not going to buy Gow3 on launch day though.
