not read all that thread so i didn't notice why 4v4? presumably it's a lessen the lag thing?
i'm all for mixing it up though, i don't mind the grenades but don't mind being without them either. If the old skool tactic works in getting the old group playing then i'll be happy. Maybe i'll manage a sesh of more than 10 mins this weekend

GoW one was only 4v4, presumably because it is 4 people in SP (2 players and 2 AI). And because people have asked for the smoke to be like GoW1 then to Epic that means everything must be like GoW1.

I'll be giving this a go tonight hope it gets good feed back, as this is how they are testing the waters with no stun smoke I reckon..

It's worse than the new system. You stand bolt upright for about 5seconds and are a bigger target than if you were on the flaw.


And to get 4players it kicks 1 player from each team before the lobby. If you look at the match summary there are 5 players listed.

People on the Epic forums are going on about how 4v4 is making the games much smoother and less laggy. I don't know what game they are playing but I'm sure Sniper Ash6 would have something to say about that.


They are also praising the lack of Smoke Stun. Again are they playing the same game I am because the term 'no stun' doesn't mean standing on the spot unable to move for 5seconds crouched over like a hunch back.

Right there with you(aside from the unchartered bit as don't own a PS3).

Got all excited when I read about an old school weekend, just been playing and it was awful. Took me about 20 minutes to manage to get into a game, first match lagged out to the point of booting back to lobby, and the games I did play were as poor as always, despite only 8 players.

Also, old school!?! so changing the smoke grenade floor stun to a smoke grenade standing stun, and dropping two players makes old school I must be missing something as there were no other changes, couldn't even get on an any of the old maps

I give up..... again.

This is a comment from Epic forums by someone who is clearly a liar.

I haven't got to play myself yet, but I just watched my brother play a match. He was saying there was a cringe, but I didn't believe him. I'd watch him throw a smoke, and everyone would seem to carry on there way.

He had to actually show me, by doing it to himself.
I also saw him throw it to take down a meatshield. The stun is so minuscule, yet practical. Anybody who would complain about THIS wasn't going to be happy with the game anyways.

A free copy of All Fronts is probably winging to him as we speak.

I actually managed to play this "old school" version of gears 2 last night and the smoke cringe is a million times better than the knock down. I'm still not sure why there has to be any reaction to a smoke grenade though, the only situation it should affect is a meat or boom shield wielder.

4 v 4 seemed less laggy as well.

Even with these changes, Gears 2 is a game I can only play for a short time because the frustration greatly outweighs any kind of enjoyment you get out of the game.

been banned from the epic forums twice now they cant take constructive criticism its a joke the games a joke all these updates all this dlc and they still havent fixed the game or anything about it.

what have you actually said and what have they actually said that you got banned twice?

when i saw their forums the mods did come across quite cocky as they are paid employees and they dont delete offensive posts when they ban someone instead they edit it to say along the lines of "I am stupid and trolling and got banned due to it"

there have been some huge lag matches and even some complete glitchers/cheaters this weekend

i like the smoke stuns but not the 4 v 4

Not another one. They are tedious. The fact the stun is even less consistent is annoying, you can't guarantee it will stun when you throw it now so they should just remove the stun entirely.

they practically have as its so easy to dodge

ways to dodge smoke cringe: hold up chainsaw, roll at time of smoke, be on cover etc - they are rolling and being on cover are things that are done hundreds if not thousands of times per game so its easy to dodge

the smoke is just cover for moving now which is great

But there are times where a smoke explodes and does stun you meaning you are f'k'd. If the smoke explodes miles away from you the range is still able to stun you, and you don't even know a smoke has been thrown. Or if 4/5 smokes are thrown at once you can't roll and avoid them all, you might finish a roll just a smoke 3 explodes and you are glued to the spot.

well if you are roady running then it gets you round it as well i believe

its better than being a floppy ragdoll on the floor

also: you dont know what its like to have 5 smokes thrown at you like that as the max was 4 over the weekend

You can hold 2 smokes. And so that makes 8/10

but you pick those smokes up from floor where someone just dropped them from picking up frags/ink

this mean the most grenades a 4 man team can have is 6 but likelihood is they are not gonna be clumped together to throw all 6 in quick succession or even alive to do it

As the frags respawn constantly you can have every enemy drop a smoke which is then picked-up by every friendly. Or with respawning gametypes you can have millions of smokes lying around by the end of the match. So it is more than possible. If you are in the Hill on KotH it is very likely for a whole team to throw smokes at you in quick succession.
