I may be able to help you out...
I have an empty cab - perfect for a project - candy cab-style
OR
could make you a MAME cab - candy cab-style
OR
could sell you a jamma cab (although, this won't be a cheapy one - it's quite a rare candy cab - a Sega New Astro City)
OR
possibly sell you the jamma cab empty (Sega Astro City)
Let me know if any of those options are of interest!

Hi
Hadn't realised you'd reply! I'm away for a couple of days so unfortunately I won't have the opportunity to post up a pic of what I've got until Friday probably - if you can wait until then I'll get some up!
Cheers
Jon

Here is an example pic of the jamma cab I would have for sale...
It's not in quite so good condition as this but it is still in good shape overall and there could be slight variations in things like the control panel (I'm still in the process of completing the restoration)... this will be a pricey beast though as you can only get them from Japan so they are a bit of a rarity over here... GWO...
Alternatively, the empty cab I have, would be what I built the basis of this cab on... that means you'd have to drill your own control panel holes, etc and it wouldn't be painted (though, to be honest, I think they look better white/cream)... fantastic project cab though - very easy to build it the way you want it... I could do one of these fairly cheap... doors, locks and keys provided as well as monitor shelf and built in fan...
May also have one of these in fairly rough shape...
It would be empty though, I could probably throw in a monitor tube and jamma harness if needs be. Again, a bit of a rarity in this country.
As for price... this is if collected (if you want it delivered I will have to figure out some quotes!)
Sega New Astro City - jamma, complete set-up - £499
Bare project cab - £75 - could also provide this to you ready for a PC to go in for MAME (The PC would be all you need i.e. all the wiring, buttons, speakers, already installed, etc) for £195 or a complete set-up with PC, all configured for £299
Sega Astro City - bare unit - £125
Also, if you need it delivered, this will obviously influence the price... I live close to Norwich. If I can manage to get the net over the next couple of days I will try and respond to any questions you may have!

Any chance you can give me some more info on the Bare Astro at the bottom??
What exactly could you include in it??
Thanks
Neil

Hi Neil
Not too bad, yourself?
Sorry for the late response, was away for a couple of days on an errand.
Unfortunately, the Astro is currently on hold for someone at Otaku (who wants it for spares!)... once I have finalised things, there may be the shell left (and depending on how much of it I sell) the price would go down significantly as a consequence. Really... you'd only be looking at the cabinet... possibly with the doors, possibly not, the monitor tube (so you'd need to buy a chassis), perhaps the jamma harness, coin mech... so with a bit of work and motivation and some cost, you could restore it... I should have a clearer idea on the Astro in the next week or so, so I'll keep you posted!

Glad to hear your good Jon,
I'm ok thanks.
Thats cool about the Astro.
Ideally I'd love your complete one but £500 is WAY past what I have to spend at the moment.
After IC '09 all I can think about is trying to score a Cab...played far too many gorgeous E2 & E3's while I was there & I feel an empty gap in my life now lol
I know full well I dont have the room for it as well but I'm still so tempted.
Quicky for you...how difficult is it to Tate an Astro??
I'm mostly a shooter player so really need it to Tate which is why in an ideal world I'll get an E2 for the Tate mech but sometimes beggars cant be choosers lol.
Anyway glad your cool & I'll speak to you soon
Neil

Glad you're doing well mate!
Well, don't take that Sega New Astro price as gospel... there is a chance I may eventually knock the price down (depending on interest and how good my restore is - it isn't quite complete yet!) This is just a very rough estimate... it's not really fair to price it up until its complete.
Astro's aren't too bad to rotate but you wouldn't want to do it often if you could help it... your best bet is to youtube 'Astro City Rotate' (or something like that) - some guy has posted a vid explaining how to do it... nowt bad but no way as easy as Egret's!
Ah cool! So you went to Insert Coin too! It was very good - that many cabs was a sight to behold!

Ah didnt read properly & didnt realise you were restoring it
Keep me posted on how you go & depending on how much you'd be looking at I could be interested
Yeah IC was awesome soooo many cabs & some seriously great games too.
It was well worth the unbeliveable headaches...I was handling the shipping for Grant & Alan & as your probably aware the last couple of days before the show it wasnt quite going according to plan lol
Still it all came good & was a great weekend, will deffinitley be back next year & hopefully will get in on the cab order this time as well...I need an Egret 2 in my life

Will do Neil... I keep you posted - to be honest, need to step it up a gear on the restorations, etc... so expect to hear fairly soon about it! It's great fun doing it but quite hard work too! Plus, dealing with monitors is a bit daunting considering mistakes can cost you your life!
IC was a fantastic achievement for everyone involved! Yeah, nightmare with the last minute cab panic but well done to everyone involved (including yourself ) with persevering and pulling it off!
My personal favs of the event were the new King of Fighters (which, by the looks of it, you either love or hate!) and Mushihime Tama (I quite frankly loved this game - can't afford it but have just bought it's 'sort of' prequel off someone over at Otaku - Uo Poko - which is pretty much equally fantastic! )
Yeah, you really need a cab mate! You'd absolutely love it! Talking to Grant and Alan, it sounds like the next cab order may have some real beauts in there - I've got my fingers crossed for a possible Neo Geo MVS Candy - now that would be nice!
...guess I'd need to make some space though to accommodate it!
