Gaming Classifieds Thread Bumping & Price Comparisons Rules Clarification

These rule updates cover ALL gaming classifieds areas

The purpose of this post is to elaborate on the main trading rules AVForums.com Trading Rules.
As with the main rules, breaking these rules may result in; warnings, infractions or trading bans being issued.

Price Comparisons
  • Any price comparisons you make must be validated with a direct link (strongly recommended) or be easy to verify and include the name of the website and must include all postal charges.
  • Where the price is instore and not on the web, then don't post it unless you can verify it, e.g. with a link to a bargain discussion thread or photograph.
  • Multibuy offers (e.g. 3 for 2, 2 for £18 etc) are not valid for price comparisons.
The following are not valid sources for price comparisons:
  • eBay or any other auction site (Any listing type)
  • Amazon Marketplace
  • Play Trade
  • Used game prices at CEX or any other store supplying used goods
Bumping Etiquette

The gaming classifieds are amongst the busiest on the forums. As a result threads quickly disappear from the coveted front page and the occasional bump is required to get them back up again. To ensure that there is a level playing field for all and to avoid excessive bumping and anyone hogging the limelight, the following rules on posting in the thread must be followed:

First and Foremost:
  • PM and email may not be used at anytime in a live sale. All discussions including offers, acceptances and refusals should be shown clearly in the thread. Once a sale is complete you may use whatever form of external communication you like to finalise payment details etc. Your general geographical location and detailed specifications of equipment are not considered to be valid reasons for using off thread communications. It is the responsibility of both the vendor and the purchaser to ensure that all negotiations are conducted in the thread. We insist on this rule because we need to see all the negotiations to be able to mediate a solution to a dispute.
The following types of posts will be considered "Bumping"

"More added"
"Prices reduced"
"Any offers"

*"payment sent"
*"payment received"
*"Item sent"
*"feedback left"

* These type of messages should be communicated using PM's or the iTrader system.
However, if these comments are deemed relevant and important to the thread, then discression will be exercised by the gaming mods

You may only "bump" if the most recent post in your thread is at least 10 hours old.

For clarification: All discussions including offers, acceptances and refusals must be shown clearly in the thread. If you are in any doubt, then please post in the thread, not via private communications.

Frequent archiving and starting new threads to circumvent the above bumping rules is also prohibited.
If you need the thread title changed, then please request using the Red Warning Triangle report post button.

P.S. You can see which posts of yours have been edited/deleted by clicking "Control Panel" near the top of the forum.

I have read the trading rules and agree to abide by them at all times until the transaction is concluded to the satisfaction of all parties involved : Yes.

This message is automatically inserted in all classifieds forum threads.

By replying to this thread you agree to abide by the trading rules detailed here.

Please be advised, all buyers and sellers should satisfy themselves that the other party is genuine by providing the following via PM to each other after negotiations are complete and prior to dispatching goods and making payment:

1) Landline telephone number. Make a call to check out the area code and number are correct too!
2) Name and address including postcode
3) Valid e-mail address (no disposable addresses such as @gmail or @yahoo for example).

DO NOT proceed with a deal until you are completely satisfied with all details being correct. It's in your best interest to check out these details yourself.

Also we advise that the vendor post images of the items for sale. This helps your sale by showing the condition of the goods prior to dispatch.
