Question Component output from PAL Gamecube?

Folks,
dooes anyone know if the digital output on the PAL
Gamecube is active as I'd like to conect it to a projector using
component. Bought it the day it came out so its one of the early
models.......progressive scan would be a bonus, the component would be a good connection over the composite cable, don't want to throw away £30 on a cable that is no use.

Thx

a tad on the blocky side compared with S-video...

I've got my PAL GC connected to my projector via the (official) component leads. The quality is excellent.

I also have my PS2 connected via component and the quality is much better than when I tried S-Video. Could it be that the poorer quality of the S-Video connection was masking some of the inherent stairstepping that the PS2 exhibits on many games?

Yes the port is active, why wouldnt it be?
Progressive scan is done in the software, see this list of USA games that support it here:
http://www.hdtvarcade.com/gamecubelist.htm
and get yourself a freeloader or action replay disc to play them.
You should be able to get the cable for around £25 delivered from lik-sang.com, the cable is actually an official product for the PAL Gamecube in Australia.

thanks for the link there! i thought that MKDA would be progressive but found out it wasnt. progressive scan would have at least made up for a truly dire game!

BTW is there any freeloader type disc for the ps2?

I dont know what the situation is with the PS2, probably a chip, or you could check Datel's (maker of freeloader) website. Someone will be along soon with the info though.

I dont suppose you are running a US Metroid Prime on your PJ?
The intro sequence has slightly messed up colours on my AE100 under proggresive scan mode, to be honest progressive scan is not that noticable anyway on my projector, I need to try it with some more games though.
