Where to buy Wireless controllers?

Hi all,
Not much activity on here so here's hoping somebody can assist me!

We've got a couple of gamecubes and would like to get a couple of wireless controllers. The official ones seem to be very expensive but there are a few on that famous auction site but I'm wary as they seem to be much cheaper than the official ones.

Can anybody point me in the right direction? Anyone bought one of Ebay?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Where to buy Wireless controllers?

I haven't bought any off ebay, but every now and then they pop up in Play.com for £18 (that's where I got mine from ---- worth a look periodically to see if they're in stock).

I think the play.com ones that Gaffer was referring to are the official Wavebirds, however they've ceased the production of those controllers now so it may be unlikely that play will ever restock them(or anywhere else for that matter, unless they have old stock left over).

Worth keeping an eye on the forum classified section as they pop up there now and again http://www.avforums.com/forums/gaming-classified-adverts/, saw one got for £5.00 delivered a little while ago which was a crazy price(guessing the seller didn't realise they were still in demand).

Re: Where to buy Wireless controllers?

Thanks for the info. I check the Classifieds in here every day but not spotted anything so far - must have missed the one you refer to

It's looking like one off Ebay but am wary as you just don't know what you're getting. Any thoughts as to which ones might be ok? I'm after two so don't want to waste a lot of money.

Re: Where to buy Wireless controllers?

You could always post a Wanted ad in the classified section, likely somebody might have one to sell that might not have thought to list it

Also, worth using the forum search in the classified section as sometimes people sell them within a large list of other items which might explain why you have missed them.

Good luck.

Re: Where to buy Wireless controllers?

On impulse today I've bought 3 wired controllers for £10.50 delivered (seemed too good to miss at that price, although they aren't official ones so god knows what they will be like ). I'd still like a couple of wireless ones at the right price so I'll just keep my eyes out on the classifieds. Feel safer buying off here than fleabay

Thanks for your help.

Re: Where to buy Wireless controllers?

The Game chain of shops in the UK are selling their own brand at the moment to use on the Wii - assume they work on the Gamecube as well. Going for £19.99 a piece...
