Dodgy copy of RES4?

Hi,

I just recently bought RES4 from play.com, and I noticed something strange on the side of the case, like a little holographic sticker written in a foreign language (looks like Turkish or something).

The case also has a purple triangle on it. On the back of the case it says; Game in English, manual in Swedish/Danish/Finnish, but upon opening it, the manual is in English and has a green triangle on the back corner.

Has anyone else purchased this game from play.com? I'm just concerned that it might be a pirate copy or something dodgy etc... and I should not play it on my Wii/GCN in case it screws it up somehow. I'm just looking for some reassurance I suppose.

Here's a pic:

I could be wrong but I think the red tab on the bottom corner indicates that it's the European version. The UK specific versions of GC games have the green tab. I think it's mainly for trade purposes. If you look closely at the back of the case you'll probably find a little message along the lines of 'Not for Supply to the UK'. Anyhow don't worry, both versions are PAL and so you should have no problems playing the game. I myself have a few red tabbed GC games and they work fine.

Nothing dodgey. Probably the only version of the game that PLAY could source at this point in time.

A lot of the 'new' RE4's on Ebay are this version also....

[edit] Manual sounds a bit odd though, it's just in English? Not any of the other languages stated on the back of the case?

[re-edit] Also a mate of mine bought this same version from Play. He sent it back with the seal intact for refund, due to not wanting to risk not having English instructions inside the case.

[re-re-edit] I've just checked a few of my GC games and all the instructions are correctly colour tabbed, green+green, red+red etc.... So you have a Euro game with UK specific instructions? Odd....

[re-re-re-edit] Was the game factory sealed when you received it from GAME? Think they could be putting A UK manual in with a Euro game and repacking? I can see how they would be unable to sell this version of the game in the UK if it had the manual only in the lingo's stated on the back of the case....

Re: Dodgy copy of RES4?

Thanks.

What concerns me more is the weird holographic sticker on the side. Never seen one before. Any idea why it's there?

Not sure mate. Could just be specific to the country for which they were originally intended.... before Play sourced em and sold em in the UK....

- Yes, English instructions only.

- Yes, Purple case, green instruction booklet.

- It was from play.com. It did have a nintendo factory seal on it. However, the area around the holographic sticker was cut away so that it could be stuck direct on the case, so I suppose that when the factory seal was taken off, the sticker would remain on the case. Seems very odd.

Re: Dodgy copy of RES4?

Play.com are based in Juersey, so don't always get UK Copies, and sometimes get stock from other countries. Nothing to worry about.
