Question UK Gamecube showing black and white on US tv

Hi, I have a potential issue, I have a US tv a UK Gamecube and a UK Sony Media Center (VGX-XL100). The media center connects to the US tv via HDMI, I plugged the gamecube into the tv using the red, white and yellow cable, unsure what its called i think its component or composite anyway when plugged into the tv i see the screen but in black and white, is there anyway I can view it in the colour? I have tried plugging it into the media center however since the media center is a pc too it shows the pc and not the gamecube the media center also has the red, yellow and white cabling (note not the red, yellow, blue, green and white) the tv has this option too. I do not have this cable in my pocession however can get one if need be.

How do I get it to work like I want and also how can I run the wii as I think it will show the same issue, nintendo also clarified this with me.

P.S. The tv only has NTSC support. The tv specs can be viewed here: http://www.amazon.com/Pavilion-LC260.../dp/B000AV4NFC

Re: UK Gamecube showing black and white on US tv

The cable that you're using now is a composite onel You will find that this will be the case, unless you get a component cable, as you're sending a PAL 50 Hz signal to a TV that will only accept an NTSC 60Hz one. RGB and component signals ignore the carrier (as far as I'm aware). That said (and it's been a while since I've looked into things this way) the Hz difference may be a problem for the TV. That's one good thing you can say about European TVs - they're much more capable of dealing with "foreign" signals than US ones.

Do bear in mind though that if your Cube doesn't have a digital out socket, then you're not going to be able to use a component cable anyway (if you can find a Cube one, because they are rarer than rocking horse poo in this country). Getting a component cable for the Wii on the other hand shouldn't be a problem.

When you say you found one, do you mean a Cube component cable, or a Wii one? Either way, it won't work with the other, and it certainly won't work with a PS3.

I meant I found a gamecube component cable, so surely if this works, then I can purchase a wii or ps3 and simply get a component cable for that particular console and it will work?

thanks
Graham

Yes - sorry mate, I misunderstood you, and thought that you meant you were going to use the same Cube cable on the Wii and the PS3!! I can see no reason why, if a Cube works on component, a Wii or a PS3 wouldn't.
