Official RGB cable problems...

I got hold of one of these, walked into a local ASDA and they had one on the shelf for £7! Now i notice there is an improvement in picture quality, but for some reason the sound quality is now horrible. As soon as i plug the RGB in, any deeper sounds cause my speakers to crackle. However, swapping it for the composite cable eliminates this totally!

Anyone understand why this might be? Am i forced to use the audio supplied by the RGB cable?
