That's only a 13% price drop compared to Microsoft's 50%. But, regardless, this is good news for gamers! Maybe if Sony isn't as cheap as I think they are, we might see a PS2 drop earlier than expected.

I was looking at the "bottom line". Before, it was selling for £299, and now it's selling for £199. The difference is just tax, but it's still 50% less that us consumers have to spend.

Thanks Beddie. I couldn't be bothered as I realised he obviously can't do maths

No matter which way you look at it it is NOT a 50% price drop. It is actually a 33.4448% price drop and 33.4448% less that anyone will have to pay. But hey, what's 17% between fellow forum members.

Ok, now I feel like an idiot; and well-deservedly, if I do say so myself. It's not bad enough that I did the calculation incorrectly once, but I did it twice.

In case you can't figure it out, I was taking the £100 discount as a percentage of the new price of £199; thus the horribly incorrect 50% off. I'll just go off somewhere with an abacus until I've learned my lesson.

Hey Azrikam

It's nice to see someone who can accept when they have made a mistake. Well done m8.

And for anyone else trying to do the maths, whichever way you look at it IT IS A 33% price drop, saving, whatever you like to call it. You are saving £100 on an original price of £300. 100 is one third of 300, hence 33%.

Phew, let's put this one to bed

The price has dropped by 33%.
The price was originally 50% more than it is now.
I am 95% sure, that I am 100% right. I think.

similar to margin vs markup view.

What is going on

Ok then let me get this straight PS2 £199 Xbox £199 Gamecube £129 So for the price of a PS2 I can have a GC at Launch for £199 with 3 games from toys R us. This is getting interesting. What will Sony do now, PS2 prices must fall now surely. The cost of a PSone must fall, lets say £60, PS2 £160/£140? This has to be good for gamers, N64, Playstation, Saturn/Dreamcast were never this good value were they. I think i'll wait till the end of May and see what the best deal is.

More fun for Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
