Soul Calibur 2 is probably the best 3D fighting game on the GC. But that just goes to show how little choice there is on the system in this genre
If you like 2D fighters then try Capcom vs SNK 2. It's a far better game than SC2 (IMHO, of course)

i think tekken is about the best fighting game around (aprat from Street Fighter that is!)
and ive had soul caliber 2 on the gamecubeand xbox and i think its very poor, try out the other first mate as if you like tekken as much as me youll kick yourself for getting soul caliber 2
try and rent it first or something |

tekken is not available for Cube!
DJVendetta is not just rude boy stuff, i hate that, but I do like the fighting mechanics! It's like a wrestling game that is not tied down to the rules/regulations/trademark moves of the WWE games!

im well aware tekken isnt available for the gamecube, i was merely reffering to it as he seems to like the style of the game, and there isnt a fighting game on the cube that ive played that is of the same style at all.
i was very dissapointed when i got hold of SC2 as it just wasnt for me.
i was hoping to put across the point that soul caliber and tekken are very different games.

Just got soul calibre 2 for £9.50 from dvdsoon and think its excellant fighting game, although i have not played many in the passed (tekken for very small spells) but even for double what i paid i would of been happy, Very enjoyable game.
Looks great and plays really well, Link is a very nice addition as well, we often have games nights and for the last couple we have Played soul Calibre 2 more than any other game so that says alot

IMO if you are after fighting games, you are looking in the wrong place with the Gamecube.
There is a very excellent game in 'Viewtiful Joe' which while containing fighting, isn't in the same vein as 'Tekken' or 'Soul Calibur'. It is more like 'Double Dragon' or 'Altered Beast' if you remember those games?
The games the Gamecube does the best, and other consoles offer very little of are sort of 'Life' simulators, such as 'Harvest Moon' and 'Animal Crossing'. Both of these games the missus loves, and I must admit, I am playing on 'Harvest Moon' a lot, even though the graphics are appauling and the sound effects terrible! But there isn't anything out there quite like them apart from possibly 'The Sims', but even that is quite different.
Sorry if this doesn't help you much, but I just wanted to highlight the NGC's strengths, and of course its weakness in the lack of some genres!
