Philips VOIP3211 VoIP/Skype Phone

Hi all,

Can someone please answer a question for me?

I'm thinking of one of these: Philips VOIP3211 VoIP And Skype Compatible Digital: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Am I right in saying that the base station (that looks a bit like a router) needs to be connected to a PC via USB (my server in the garage for example) and then you place the phone handset/charging base station in another room simply plugged into the mains to charge it?

It is described as DECT/USB phone so I would say so.

yea, you gotta have the base station connected to your pc and be logged on to skype to use it as a skype phone, you can also connect a normal phone line to the base station and use it as a conventional phone at the same time.
Its a good phone as long as your pc is logged on most of the time which mine is. I wish I had gone for the twin pack though, as its almost impossible to get a additional handset.

Not sure if things have changed but when I got mine about 18 months ago I could not get a vista driver for it and the XP one only worked with XP

Just reviving this post - does this phone work? I prefer a phone than headsets as I am going back to Manila to do some work for a few months and Skype will be my temporary solution for calling my clients in the UK.

Can anyone tell me if this is any good? Need a phone by Friday at the latest as I am flying off the coutnry on Saturday afternoon! A bit last minute I know but don't forget I'm a man....

The Phillips VoiP3211 holds a simple idea and it's an overallgreat phone! Talk for free in comfort! I always liked Skype but I didn't really fancy using the headset and standing in front of the computer while making a phone call. Once connected, which is a simple task, you can walk away from your PC and browse your friends on Skype and simply call them from wherever with Skype. The phone comes with the long life lithium ion rechargeable battery pack so it can recharge when not in use and has a really good battery life.
